The 'A' is the Amps rating. This is how fast the electricity flows through the wires. Using a higher Amp rating means The Novation was getting too much electricity, too fast. The smell suggests you may have 'burnt out' something in the electronics. You may not be able to fix this one. You'll need a electronics specialist to look at it to see what caused the smell.
HI, yes it is very possible. If you post a picture of the internals and the damage to the port I may be able to provide a link to or advise on what you need.
Try: turning off keyboard and restarting the computer.
Start up Novation until completely loaded.
Switch on keyboard the set id ports....worth a shot(?)
Keyboard communication can be temperamental when interfacing with computers. Especially when dealing with audio problems, latency problems, inputs and outputs.
Follow the directions specifically in the Novation Manual...it only takes one wrong step to stuff the whole thing up ! :)
I don't have a solution for you, but I can tell you why its happening. The issue is caused by your i-series processor and how it handles USB Priorities. Many of us have the same issue with these processors. Novation claims to be working on a new software patch or driver to solve this issue, but I have not seen anything yet. Send a request to Novation about this issue to add to the list of people that want a fix. Hope this helps.
