Mine did that very same thing. There is a sensor in the foot pedal that was faulty. I replaced the foot pedal.

This soulds like the wiring on the pedal pr the connectors may be loose.

Most likely it is a foot control problem--probably something you cannot see.

The foot controller was pressed (or the start/stop button

was pressed if the foot controller is not connected)

and the reverse/reinforcement stitch button
was pressed while the presser foot was raised.

The foot pedal was replace?

If it is not right take the machine and foot pedal back and have another installed.
