I have a Samsung DVD-VR355 VHS/DVD combo. I'm trying to digitize some old VHS tapes, but I'm seeing the 'tracking' notice across the screen. Can I turn that off?

Unfortunately because these tapes are so old, the tracking is constantly adjusting itself. So I'm seeing the 'tracking' adjusting bar, along with the 'VHS' 'SP' bar across the top, and that is being digitized in as well. Is there a way I can turn that display off?

It sounds like the sensor to tell the microcontroller that the tape is moving is not working. If that is so, the VCR would probably do the same thing in FF or Rewind. If you end up taking this unit into a repair shop, have them check the DVD's software version (it should be 1.250) If below that number, have them upgrade that as well. You can check the version yourself by pressing 1,2,3,4 and then "display" on the remote while the unit is on and no disc in DVD. After noting the version, just hit "power" on the remote to exit this mode.

SOURCE: Magnavox combo vcr dvd

What you're describing is common when the center LED has failed / gone out. If you're really good at taking a unit like this apart and putting it back together - and not too bad with a solder stick you could attempt this one yourself... It is a pretty intensive repair but not difficult for a good shop just time consuming. The part isn't too expensive either, just an infared LED... In fact, we've run a bit short on stock once in awhile and bought one of the off the shelf versions from Radio Shack which worked just fine. Good Luck Bill

SOURCE: Need Comcast Remote Code for Samsung DVD-V1000

I just programmed my comcast remote for my Samsung v1000, My comcast remote is very similar to the 3-in-1, but has a few more buttons on it (on the Comcast site, my remote looks like the DVR 3 remote, but I don't have a DVR). The code I used was 21044.

By using this code, the play/stop/rewind/ff buttons all work. I didn't test the record button. The Info button worked as "Display" and Exit button to work as Audio Source (HiFi/Mono). However, the Volume and Channel controls did not work.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Stopped working and all digital figures displayed!

If the display is not dim the battery is probably OK. Try removing the battery, test it anyway, and after a minute or two replace it (I'd use a new one anyway) and see if the problem is cleared. Sometimes just power cycling will "reboot" the watch. If that doesn't do it I'm afraid it will need to visit a Breitling service center.

Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

I have an old emerson TV/VCR (Digital Tracking VHSHQ) The TV works fine, but when I put a tape in it is ejected and part of the tape stays inside, but can be pulled out.

Try a VHS Cleaning Tape Cassette. Follow it's instructions. If no better result it's not worth throwing away money on having repairs done but better put toward, if you can afford to, buying:
Option 1. A VHS/DVD player (combo as these are known) and plug that into the Emerson AV input.
Option Two: A VHS/DVD twin recorder combo deck - and plug that in.
Then start on copying any VHS tapes you cherish to DVD on this device.
Option Three: Forget the Emerson except for just using as a TV and buy a new TV with DVD player built in - the latest type of combo.
(I'm having to guess whether you've just used tapes to watch or record and watch)

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

Vhs tapes recorded to DVD+R's

try forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind to the start again, this can help to seat the tape correctly on the spindle . the audio track part of the tape is in a specific region on the tape so misalignment may be the issue with those cassettes.

also try to press the tracking up and down when playing the video

DVD-VR355 samsung DVD Video

There is no regional coding for VHS. Its only for DVD's. All you have to do select the correct playback format - PAL/Secam/NTSC
Usually N.American tapes are in the NTSC4.48 format. You could also just set your VCR to "Auto".

Hope that hepls.

VHS to DVD

I just bought at Best Buy the Samsung DVD Recorder & VCR. You can copy your VHS tapes right to DVD and or hook up an external source into the deck and copy them to DVD.  I find it working well but many of my tapes have tracking issues which is becoming a hurdle for myself.

Blue Screen

Could be dirty heads if you have a dry head cleaner tape try it (Maxell and RCA make ok tapes to try for ~:30-1min) ALSO:
There is a delay in the time you adjust the tracking and
the results being visable on the screen on this unit,
I suspect the tracking is adjusted off center. It takes some getting used to the way this deck's tracking adjustment works as the VHS video is upconverted to be captured onto the dvd and that is what you see, the upconverted video, fed out to your TV, analog or digital, this unit upconverts everthing to digital even analog channels, there needs to be a noise/blue screen off feature in the menu like my old hitachi VHS deck and my JVC ~$60 deck has now. On analog TV or old tapes it comes in handy for adjusting the tracking/antenna.
