SOURCE: frigidaire not dumping the ice

Hi: Dumping the ice is the start of the ice making timer. Before you replace the ice maker... Set the freezer one setting colder. The ice maker wont make ice if the freezer is not at zero degrees F. Just because things are frozen in it dosn't mean it is at zero. This happens a lot in the summertime. After resetting the temp don't open the door every hour to see if it makes ice as you will just dump the cold air out. Listen for the ice to dump, give it 24hrs. I hope this helps, Jeff

SOURCE: Ice cube dispenser not working

I had this problem. The root cause was that mineral deposits had built up in the ice cube tray. The ice would not "dump"... but stayed in the tray after the dump cycle. I did not catch it quickly and eventually the plastic frame broke. That was easily replaced. Inspect the ice tray to see that all cube surfaces are smooth. If there are mineral deposits, they need to be removed. Do NOT scrub with anything abraisive or you will ruin the tray. As you are looking straight on at the Ice maker, with the bin out, depress the small black retangular tab. The tray assembly will come apart to remove the tray. Rinse the tray, then fill with warm vinegar. Let it soak. You may scrub with soft cloth, finger or fingernail to remove deposits. Replace the tray and you should be in business.

Whirlpool ice maker quit.

If it's similar to my Samsung, mine did the same. There is a reset button at the front of the box which contains the ice cube tray. If you press it, the ice tray rotates to dump the cubes, then refills. Hope this helps.

The ice maker will make the ice but I have to manually press the reset button to have the ice dump into the tray. It will not dump ice on its own. This is for the samsung RF217AB french door bottom...

Make sure the freezer is cold enough. If not this might cause problems of poor dispensing.
If your ice makes unit has a 'heater'build into it, it just might be that the heater in the tray does not work..if so, new ice tray dispenser.

Ice maker stopped working in lg refrigerator lfx25976st/00

I just slide the ice tray to the left and down till it unhooks from the right hand side. Then unhook the wires from under the tray. To replace just repeat in reverse order. I have to take our ice tray out ever so often to clean it since we have well water.
There is a little square button up under the left hand side in the back. If you press that with a screwdriver or butter knife it will reset the ice tray and it return it to fill with water.

Ice dispenser does not work unit makes ice and water works fine

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Model 22 Icemaker is not making ice

The following assumes that the ice trays are properly filling with water. If not, check the water control valve.

Ice maker problem

Clear the Ice tray by pressing the button under the ice maker. The problem is that the ice is in the first couple of slots is not dumping and the tray tries to fill again and over flows. I pressed the button and cleared the tray of ice (This will tilt the tray and twist it to empty it) that was re-frozen several times without dumping. My ice maker works perfectly after I did the above. I think the problem arises if the door did not close completely. I stopped hanging the dish cloth on the door and on my LG Dish wisher. I hope this helps

LG SXS Refrigerator LSC26905 ice maker

I was able to order the ice tray myself and install it in the fridge - it's not hard. I ordered from one of the parts sellers linked to at the LG website, not those listed in other posts here.

Here's how to replace the tray:

You need to remove the tray dumping mechanism to do this.
  1. Remove the ice bin, set it aside (don't forget to deal with the ice melt).
  2. Turn the ice maker off (LG says to unplug the fridge, I didn't).
  3. On the left hand side of the ice tray dumping mechanism there is a screw helping to keep the entire thing suspended from the ceiling of the freezer. Remove that screw- don't worry, the mechanism will stay put for now.
  4. The dumping mechanism can now slide forward- note that you can't completely remove it from the freezer yet, but slide it forward and it will no longer be suspended from the ceiling. Don't let it drop or hang.
  5. You need to disconnect its power supply now. On the left hand side you should see a small bundle of wires coming from the back of the freezer to the dumping mechanism. It connects to the dumping mechanism's set of wires with a pair of white plugs. Pull these plugs apart. You may need to pry the catch on these plugs apart while you pull.
  6. Now you can take the dumping mechanism out of the freezer (and close your freezer).
  7. To remove the ice tray you need to slide the housing that contains the rotating motor out of the housing. This is on the right side of the mechanism. If you have trouble identifying it look at the underside of the entire thing and you'll see a small "test" button. That button is on the motor.
  8. To remove the motor you'll see two catches on the right side- you'll need to pull these catches out without breaking anything. You'll be able to slide the motor down and out when you get it right.
  9. Sliding the motor out lets you get the old ice tray out now. There is probably a set of white wires routed through a little catch on the old ice tray that you'll need to free.
  10. Put the new ice tray back on the motor. You'll need to get the left side secured at the same time you get the motor housing in its catches of the dumping mechanism.
  11. Reroute those white wires back on the new ice tray.
  12. Reconnect the electric wires to the housing.
  13. Slide the entire dumping housing back onto the ceiling of the freezer and screw in on the left side.
That's it. You can press that test button on the underside of the motor. This will dump the tray and immediately refill it with water so you can observe if everything is working.
