I did buy a boat and it has a Clarion M475 installed. The CD player always give the error 6 (CD is inverted) and then, nothing happens. Can I solve this problem? Thx.

First thing to suspect would be the antenna cable or antenna. Check it is connected properly to the back of the unit, and check the cable all the way along to the antenna - these are prone to internal corrosion when they get a bit old. Easiest way to check is to get a new antenna and cable (they are cheap) and plug it in directly to the back of the unit. Check the ground connection of the unit is good - any terminals might need a clean up - disconnect the battery first. SOURCE: my clarion cd player in my boat was working fine

Remove all the speaker wires.

Power the radio back on and verify it is not the radio at fault.

If it powers up, check the speakers with a Digital Multimeter set to OHMS 20x.

Each speaker should have a resistance of 4 ohms. (or 8 in some cases)

Any variance (+/- .5ohms) means the voicecoil is blown, and replace that speaker.

Error Codes:

Error 1 Battery inside CD Changer needs to be replaced.

Error 2 CD error message. Mechanism has as eject problem or takes a long time to select CD.

Error 3 CD error message. The pick-up is out of focus during play mode due to scratches on the disc or contamination.

Error 4 Connection problem. Reconnect the data cable.

Error 5 CD error message. Could not read correct data due to CD ROM.

Error 6 CD error message. Could not read data from disc because it is upside-down.

Error 8 Tape Drive system defective. Eating tape or something wrong with the drive system.

Error 9 Weak RF. Try alternate frequency

Even though it says error 6 is an upside down cd, it just means the disc cant be read. usualy means the laser is dirty, out of adjustment, or not working.

It only plays factory burned CD's. No Cdr's or any home made cd's. Did you try that.
