SOURCE: manual lever setting for water heater timer

post a close up of the timer and i will tryto assist you.
normally it dosent matter where the lever is as it should reset itself after each comlete operation . ie if you turn it on it should turn off when it reaches a preset off cam pin. or position indicator lever.

How do I set automatic timer on AC1 Hozelock watering system?

incorrect operation. 1. Remove screws and back cover. 2. Insert two 1.5V 'C' Alkaline batteries. (Check + and - are correct.). IMPORTANT: Rechargeable batteries must not be used. 3. Replace batteries each season. (max 12 months use) MAINTAINING THE WATERPROOF SEAL 1. Ensure that rubber seal is positioned correctly. 2. Replace back cover and screw down tightly. 3. Repeat each time back cover is removed. HOW TO PROGRAMME THE TIMER There are two watering operations - Automatic and Manual. AUTOMATIC OPERATION Automatic ON 1. Turn dial clockwise to AUTO START at actual desired start time (e.g. To start watering each day at 15H00 you must set your AC1 when the actual time of day is 15H00). The timer has now memorised the auto start time until it is reset and will operate every day at this time. Use of manual ON or OFF does not cancel memory. 2. Turn dial anti-clockwise to: a) Chosen duration for once-a-day operation, or b) Chosen programme for all other watering frequencies (see table). The timer will now automatically run the selected program repeatedly until a new option is selected. GB 2 Automatic OFF Turn dial to Manual ON or OFF. If you wish to return to Automatic watering re-select the desired watering programme. NOTE your auto start time remains memorised until a new one is selected. Changing start time Turn dial clockwise to AUTO START at new chosen start time. Changing watering programme Turn dial to new programme. Do not turn dial to AUTO START unless a new start time is desired. MANUAL OPERATION Manual ON Turn dial anti-clockwise to ON. Water will flow for 60 minutes maximum or until turned to OFF setting. Note: After 60 minutes water shuts off. Knob will still point to ON and needs to be manually set to OFF or to desired number of automatic watering minutes. Manual OFF Turn dial clockwise to OFF. Note: Operation is only audible when valve opens and closes. To check that timer is working, switch to manual ON or OFF to hear valve operate. CONNECTING THE TIMER TO THE TAP Use supplied adapters if required. Tighten to ensure no leaks

I have a 196-036 timer. Stored it inside during the winter. Hooked it up yesterday, everything works, (info panel), but it will not allow water to disribute. Tried manual and auto programing. Any ideas?

Most issues of this sort with these timers is water pressure holding the valve shut. Reduce the flow from the spigot and try again. If the timer still does not operate properly I would suggest removing the timer from your water system and manually activate the valve. Listen for the solenoid to click open, this can be fairly faint so it may take a few tries to definitely tell if it is operating. If the solenoid will not operate it would be best to replace the unit.

I have a Et 70115C Intermatic Timer, I want to install it on my Hot Water Heater, I have connected the 2 110V leads from my breaker to Terminals 1 & 2 and connected the two leads from the hot water...

A) 5 terminal ET70115C.
Voltage selector set to 240.

B) BUT you say you have 120Volts from breaker >>> confusing, so I'm proceeding on basis that you meant to say 240V from breaker.
Add a comment at any time.

C) Review timer:
5-terminal ET70115 timer has NO and NC terminals
NC is normally closed >> this terminal has power when timer is OFF
NO is normally open >> this terminals has power when timer turns ON
For water heater, you want NO terminal 4 so water heater turns ON when timer turns ON

D) Wire for 240Volt water heater

Two hot wires from breaker connect to terminals 1 and 2. This powers timer clock.
Jumper wire connects between terminal 2 to terminal 3. This sends power to the switch circuit.
Wires to water heater connect to terminals 1 and 4

E) 5-terminal timer turns off 1 hot wire to 240V water heater.
Turning off 1 hot wire will stop 240V circuit from working; Water heater thermostats also turn off one hot wire.
240V water heater has black and red wire.
Wire from terminal 4 should connect to Black wire on water heater.

Diagram shows two wires on terminal 1
Two wires on terminal 2
One jumper wire on terminal 3
One wire on terminal 4
Zero wires on terminal 5

I am assumimg that when the plastic peg is pushed down the recirculater for the hot water is off. When up, it is on. The Build set the timer and no manual was left. Hot water comes onwhen it should be...

Do you have the auto-circ recirculation pump with timer?
If so, here is manual for that specific product:
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;}

http://waterheatertimer.org/Auto-circ-manual.pdf
Manual gives instructions for a different timer dial than timer than shows on unit, so they must come with different dials.

Instructions say pegs pulled out = timer on
Conversely, pegs pushed in = timer off
You might be able to hear the pump operating to see if these instructions are correct for your recirculation timer. The kids would love a listening assignment under the sink.

To see images showing how recirculation system operates:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

Setting times:
Try 1/2 hour ON in morning and 1/2 hour ON in evening. Warm water will stay in pipe for a while.

Recirculation system with timer costs $10-17 per year to operate, assuming timer runs 1 hour per day with electric prices at 10 cents per kilowatt hour. Operation cost is straight line ... so if timer runs 2 hours per day, cost is $20-34 per year at 10 cents per Kwh.

Water saved might equal 5 gallons per day, or 1825 gallons per year depending on usage. Average water wasted waiting for hot water is 1/2- 2/3 gallon depending on length of pipe. Set a bucket under spigot to test your home when circulation system is not ON.

Cost of water depends on local billing rate. The municipality saves purifying water, pumping water to your home, and finally pumping and processing sewage drainwater.

If you are on a water well, the pump electricity from saving 2000 gallons a year is a dollar or two per year since water well generally consumes less than 1Kwh per day for ordinary house.
