Hi gurukataria, you can use the china made DVD/CD player remote's which have same key functionalities as the Vox BLC007B had. They are easily available in electronic shops.
The three things which come to mind are: 1) Is the headset the VOX headset intended for the radio model? Sometimes the rings on the plug do not match the internal points of contact if it is not the intended headset. Not all headsets are VOX capable. 2) Is the headset plugged in all the way. (You mentioned plugging in and then turning on. This is good. You must always have the radio turned off when plugging or unplugging an audio device.) 3) Try pressing the PTT on the headset cord one time before switching the dip switch to VOX. (Assuming you have a headset with the small box in the line.)
Check your VOX/ iVOX settings. You will need VOX for using an audio device.
Lastly, if you continue to have difficulties, contact Motorola at the 800# provided in the user guide. They should be able to assist you.
If this is the earpiece that came with the radio & it states that vox is available for the radio, then Yes would be the answer to your query.
But if you are trying to use a yaesu VC-27 vox earpiece with another Make of radio, say - Icom, then no would be the answer, as each manufacturer, programs each radio/earpiece with vox to work only with their radios.
What does the VOX switch do? When the VOX function is active, both the LCD screen & Audio turn off and will automatically reactivate when there is noise in the room being monitored (e.g. baby crying). This feature is useful at night so the light coming from the screen doesn't bother you and also when running the MobiCam Ultra receiver on batteries since it will extend the life of the batteries. Note: The VOX function will not work when batteries are low and you cannot change channels on the receiver in the VOX mode

The Kenwood TK3202 onky supports VOX use with three specific models of Kenwood headsets: the KHS-1, KHS-21, and KHS-22. You will want to ensure that you are using one of these three headsets and that the Push-to-Talk is set to the VOX position.
Additionally the VOX function must be enabled in the radio. This can only be done by the dealer programming the radios. If the Voice Operated Transmit function was enabled by dealer who sold the radios to you then you may still need to set the VOX sensitivity level to ensure that function is sentitive enough to register the user's voice. The steps to setting the VOX sensitivity level are located on pages 20-21 of the radio's users manual which is available for download here.
Determine if this is a VOX problem or a headset problem.
Turn off the VOX. Does the headset work for normal transmit and receive?
Remove the headsets. Do the radios work normally on speaker?
Plug one headset in And test with the (other) radio in speaker mode. Does it work? Now turn on VOX in this mode (yes it will work this way). Does vox work (put you mouth right on the mic)
If so swap headsets and try the other.
If one Hset works but not the other its the headset. If neither works its likely the radio ..but before you decide try the same headset experiment on the other radio. Find out which of the 4 devices the problem follows.
To turn off sound activation press the menu button 3 times to enter VOX mode. The VOX icon should be flashing, then press the down button till the number of bars dissappear. Press the menu button to confirm the VOX off mode. You also can adjust the sensitivity of the VOX mode by how many bars are displayed, less bars equal less sensitivity. No bars and voice command is deactivated. Hope this helps. Ed
If you are using vox (voice activated transmit) go into the menu and make sure you don't have the VOX setting too high.
You should be able to put the headset on... hit the "push to talk" button on the radio and transmit you audio. Turn the other radio on and make sure the radio is "keying" (tx with no auio) then make sure there is audio. If you don't have audio but the radio is transmitting.. you might have the wrong type of plug on your headset for the audio..... there are 2 plugs... 1 for transmit audio....1 for recieve audio. It could be the wrong type of plug for the jack in the radio.
Regardless.. the way the headset works is either you push the "push to talk button" onj the radio OR you use the VOX function... with the vox function you just have to talk into the mic to transmit. This is what your headset is designed for. You will have to go into the menu and set up the radio for VOX.
If you still have problems follow my directions at the top of this page ( check mic jack and stuff)
I think you just have to set the radio up for VOX operation and set the VOX setting.
You should be able to push the push to talk button and talk through the mic on the headset. If you don't get any audio that way there is a problem and you should check the jack and plug on the headset.
