Your dishwasher may have the option to turn on or off drying dishes. Check your selection.

SOURCE: wet dishes

If the dry cycle has a problem, check these:

Heating element
Drying fan
Thermostat
Heating element Your dishwasher has an electrical heating element that helps to dry the dishes. If the element is burned out, the dishes won't dry properly, and you need to replace the element.

Drying fan Many high-priced dishwashers have a small fan that blows air or heated air into the dishwasher to speed up the drying process. If the fan is defective, you need to replace it.

Thermostat Some dishwashers have a thermostat that monitors the drying temperature. If the thermostat is defective, the heating element may not cycle on or off properly. If that's the problem, you need to replace the thermostat

SOURCE: Dishwasher not drying

the dishwasher does not have a heating element to dry the dishes. If you wash glass or ceramic dishes and cups then the rinse cycle makes them hot enough to dry without a heating element but if you wash a lot of plastic this process does not work very well. Open the door after the load is washed and leave them to air dry for several hours and you will be fine.
The manual states that there is no heating element to dry dishes. The high heat content of porcelain, glass, or metal dishes enables them to get hot and stay hot long enough to get dry without a heater. Plastic does not have nearly as high a heat content so they cool down much more quickly and don't get dry.

Dishes still wet upon end of cycle

Check if the heater is working. This can be done by checking if the dishwasher has steam and dishes are warm when cycle is complete. Also check if the Rinse aid has not finished. Make sure the Rinse aid dosage is not at too low.

The dishwasher dose not get hot at all and when it has finished washing every thing is still wet

  • Well, the dishes inside the dishwasher will still be wet unless you use a dry cycle at the end of the washing cycle. Not all dishwashers have this option. Even though mine does I rarely use it as the dishes will dry on their own in two hours.Saves a little money. Even when washing on a normal cycle the dishwasher itself should not get hot. It may blow a little steam out the front vent. Hope this helps.

Are you using a rinse aid like Jet Dry??  All dishwasher manufacturers now require that you use rinse aid for drying dishes at the end of the cycle.
