Question about Radio Communications

Open Question

I have Alphasonik AK15PK6-Pair Alphasonik All-in-one 15" 2500W and on it's second use it stops working intermittently. When selecting radio freq it only cycles up through 92.5 and then back to 89.9.

SOURCE: FR60 intermittent transmission

Hello snorker,

It could be battery / power issue. Two-way radios draw much more power when transmitting then receiving. If the batteries are weak the radio might work perfectly fine on receive and then cut-out when you depress the Push-To-Talk.

SOURCE: radio wont do freq 159.2775

the reason you can not input this frequency, (159.2775 ) is because the synthesizer in that particular radio can not divide down to that exact frequency. Nothing is wrong, just that the electronics will not generate that particular freq. It has to do with the math and what the synthesizer can do.

The freq counter stays lit at 10.625mnz the claifier knob or the channel selecter will not change the freq counter

This problem, really need to be on a bench to test.. FREE at any good cb shop, to tell you what is wrong.... But most times when a freq counter is not working. Either the crystal is bad, poorly soldered, or its not receiving an input signal. Best way to test is to have a second freq counter external inline using coax.. and check the output of the radio and see if it shows correct or wrong. If it is showing correct they you internal freq counter is messed up. and needs to be check for a bad crystal or solder joints. sometimes even the voltage regulators go bad.. If it is showing a wrong freq on external counter then check the radio's crystal and oscillator circuit. this too can be as simple as a cold solder joint. on the solder side check the small surface mount diode near the PLL, next to the PLL shielded covers. It is normally black these come loose often times too. If you need more help feel free to call or text for more help.

Do you still receive NOAA weather frequencies? Sounds like your local agencies have switched from simplex/standard frequency operation to trunking. I suggest you visit www.RadioReference.com to view the latest on active frequencies and systems in your area.

One works the other does not broadcast

The FR50 is a pretty basic radio, where you set the channel select to one of 14 frequencies. The freq number will display on the screen, both radios must be on the same freq to communicate. This being said, if you have known-good batteries and the freq number is the same, your raidos should work together. If not, you have a radio which is defective and will need to be replaced.
