Sounds like the main board is going. This is typically where the sound processing is done. Unit will need to be serviced.

If it's coming from the AV cable, the white plug (AUDIO L) and the red plug (AUDIO R) are most likely not plugged in properly. Make sure both audio plugs are firmly plugged in. Like I said, if it's coming from the cable, this problably is what's wrong.

My LG TV has static but no picture

Unplug your TV and also the external components for about 30 seconds and then disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV and move it to a different port. Plug everything back in and change the TV to the new input to see if that fixes the issue.

Plasma tv randomly goes black

By the highly technical manner in which you set forth the problem, I can see you are far more electronically savy than am I, BUT just a thought: Is there there any sort of timer setting in the TV menu which may be cutting it on and/or off, and which you have somehow failed to notice? Good luck. . .

Model 42LE5400. Why no picture, no sound?

Just a guess (an iterative process)... but

Main board... EAX61532702
You MUST verify these numbers yourself.

If you are inclined to tackle this yourself... take a look at my 2 previous postings ... but I only GUARANTEE if you go in carelessly... you WILL turn your device into a pile of GARBAGE (good only for parts).

I was completely FLOORED to find reasonable prices at SEARS...
(guaranteed fit, (CALL 1-800-683-1693)).

Shop-Jimmy repair/return has kits(check out below).

Always use an ANTI-STATIC WRIST STRAP...Work safely (real pros REMOVE power (when possible))...

Good luck...

Hello,
It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the tv there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.
I hope this will help to solve the problem.....

PS3 static on screen

It sounds like you're carrying interference to your TV. Try moving you station away from any power source. Make sure your hdmi cable is away from any power as well. This may also be a ground issue. Plug your ps3 power brick into a different outlet.

Static in the surround sound speakers

Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
