If it's a twin cyl engine, one of the cylinders probably isn't firing

SOURCE: Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.

SOURCE: Craftsman zero turn - blades won't engage

The PTO switch contacts to operate the clutch that starts the blades is defective. I have replaced mine and the new one just failed again. Sears must know this is a defect problem but so far they are quiet about the problem

SOURCE: husqvarna zero turn runs great but after about 30 mins the blades stop turning

when this happens you need to see if it you loose power to the clutch to see if the clutch is failing or the circuit feeding it power

Hi, check or replace the switch on the seat, basically its not telling the safety system that you are on the seat. Regards Phil.

I have a cub cadet zero turn, runs fine but when I engage the blades on grass it bogs down and won't go fast at all.

problem can be caused by dirty fuel (jets in carby blocked) need to clean carby or even put a kit through it.

Engine bogs down when mowing runs fine otherwise

Hi there,

Check that the blades spin freely when not engaged. The bearings may be in need of a good lubing.

The good news is 95% of the time, they bounce back completely.

When checking, be careful. Key out, etc.

Best regards

Whenever I engage my PTO may engine bogs down, what may be causing the problem?

do you mean when you engage the cutters? if so then chances are on of the blade spindles may be seized or stuck, disconnect the belt from engine pulley and try turn the blade spindle pulleys by hand one at a time to see if they are spinning freely
