Of course it's possible.... You are using Android OS which has known security holes.
Many Apps that are so called "free" can be monitoring your keystrokes and IP Data. Any internet search will prove this.
As they say... "You get What You Pay For"
If security is a major concern then switch to a tighter environment like IOS8 type phone.
But you already knew all this.... Right!

Need more information to help you diagnose.
Has it worked before and stopped? Is this a new device that you are finding difficult to use?
If the touchscreen has become unresponsive to touch, and a reset or restart are not addressing the issue, it is likely to be a hardware fault.

If a Android OS you find the gear/setup, bluetooth and then tell it to scan. You need to make sure you turn the BT speaker on. The brand of speaker should popup on the tablet. Select it to pair.
