Is it the Ball machine or typebar, if typebar machine where
the keys come up out of the "basket" there are small slots, lubricate that area first with some cleaner such as windex and then a little wd40 or oil such as 3n1 or lite machine oil. Try this may be something more but that area gets dirty and dry....

SOURCE: replacing typewriter ribbon

i have this typewriter also. after replacing the ribbon and print wheel you have to press the (CODE) & (=) keys. This will align itself. I recently had to replace the print wheel and referred to the manual. Works like a charm.

SOURCE: RIBBON CHANGE

Make sure the ribbon is facing the correct side. Usually, there is a small encave which is to be facing downwards. Snap it in place and you are good to go.

SOURCE: typing

Something else you might check, I was having same problem. Make sure the Daisy Wheel Lock Lever (check the description that comes in the guide) is locked in place, i.e., push it forward to lock. It is the black thing that sticks up on the right inside the correction tape. I did this and words started appearing. Hope it helps.

We bought my dad a Brand new Smith Corona Super 12 and space bar isn't working.Additionally, keys type, but the ink isn't showing on the paper. We can't visit during COVID.Can you help him? Thank you.

Brand new? Contact the seller and/or manufacturer about the warranty. https://www.smithcorona.com/

Is this the machine? https://www.amazon.com/Smith-corona-Coronamatic-Portable-Electric-Typewriter/dp/B0112YFSFE

Anyway, if the keys type and the ink isn't showing, the problem seems to be with the ribbon. If it is not advancing, the keys hit the same spot repeatedly, no ink. If it is advancing, there may be a
control that modifies the striking power of the keys and that might be adjusted. If it is not a matter of striking power, perhaps the ribbon was not installed properly or simply was dried out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF0rskT16jQ

As to the space bar not working, that probably requires some disassembly. Here is a page describing the general problem: https://www.instructables.com/Easy-Spacebar-Repair/

Here is a page for disassembly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVLDvPdgebU

However, this could easily turn into a fiasco of the type where someone opens up a watch and thinks they can repair it. They don't have the tools nor the technical skills. That's reason enough to call the manufacturer for warranty info and/or support.

After typing on a line and i hit return it stops wherever it wants

Clean and lube pulleys, and the silver round bar that goes throught the carrier. Carrier is what hold the ribbons and Daisy wheel. Its gummy and dirty.

Space bar key doesn't work

If the keys do nothing at all you probably need a keyboard, if they do something but not what you want try a little WD40 on the silver shaft that guides the carrier. If it's the KB contact Geo. Beyers Co.

Letters aren't striking ribbon

Get some WD40 and spray it on thw segment (the place where the type bars are swung) then everywhere the key mechinism pivots.
