Hi, I bought an used JVC LT-40DG52J without remote. Works good but need to change two things, language (to English) and remove the sleeper time(set 2 hrs now). Tried with all type of new remotes, does not work, may be the TV IR censor is damaged and this TV comes with only one button to switch on/off and change inputs. Please suggest?
Hi, I could not find the user manual of your JVC LT-40DG52J, you should have the TV a way to enter the menu and make the changes you need
What if I have found a sale publication of the replacement of the remote control of your JVC
I give you the link to download it
I hope you can get the remote control or solve the problem

Sorry, was away for some days.
Thank you Franco for the reply. I have tried buying one universal remote control and one specific to the model. Both didn't work.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-RC1912-TV...https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1017360
Hence, I was in doubt if the TV itself has issue with the IR censor. I have attached the picture of back of TV. IS there any way i can check if TV IR receiver is working?
Hello, to check that the infrared sensor is working, you should have an oscilloscope, look inside the television for the sensor, which has three legs, one is a ground or negative, another is positive and the third is signal output, which also has a positive voltage, with the oscilloscope you have to be able to see the train of pulses that are generated when you point and press any key on the remote control, you also have to have the circuit and identify which leg enters that train of pulses to the microprocessor and check that are present in that leg
I do not know methods, simpler to be able to control the sensor
The other option is to buy a new sensor and replace it or a replacement sensor system card and replace it
Last, look for a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem

Hi Franco, thank you for the detailed answer. But I could not do most of it by myself. But got a sure that the TV censor is non-functional. Thank you again. :)

SOURCE: changing remote command mode for sony rdr-hx525 without remote control
Hold the "Enter" button along with the numeric button for the command mode you selected in Setup. This will reset the remote to work in the command mode you selected (also lets you get back into System Menu to try other command modes). If you pick a different command mode, you'll need to do this again to reset the remote to the selected mode. Found this info courtesy our friends on the Internet - no thanks to Sony's manual...

I MAY have a solution!! We too have the VIP722 Dish Network receiver. Ours is the "K" model. I called the place where we purchased the TV and they said that the "brightness" on the TV may need to be turned down. He walked me through this, and it worked. The remote WORKS now!! Our TV is a 40" Sony Bravia that we purchased a couple of months ago. Evidently at night, the TV was so bright in the room, it interfered with the Infared Remote control. By turning down "off" brightness detector on the TV, the IR remote was able to send the signal to the receiver. Our TV is on a cabinet and the receiver is directly underneath on a shelf. I hope this solves your problem and anyone else's that may have this problem with the remote.

Try this
1. Get camera phone
2. set camera phone to to take picture
3. point remote at camera and look at the camera display
4. press buttons on the remote, you should a light from the Remotes IR.
5a. If NO light is seen, your remote is broken. you can try replacing the batteries to double check
5b. if Yes, light is seen. Your remote is working and you may have a problem with the TV.
As a double check, get a remote you know is working and try the same thing to verify that you are checking the remotes correctly.
