Hi Dan, what could happen is that you repeat the fault, so it counts on this fault, the Backlights circuit or its power supply (Inverter), it can have some false contact, in solders or connection
To the extent that you can, check this stage of the TV, so that it does not go back to repeat the failure
If you have technical knowledge, I will send you a link to download the service manual
But use it and when it fails again, take it to a specialized technical service
I hope I can solve your concern
Greetings Franco Dosil

    Hi again, Dan, for what you have to say, you had to have entered the service mode of the television, looking at what I attached, I see that it is the service manual, you have to re-enter the service mode;
    In any input source, then press the "?", "EXIT" and "OK" (remote control) keys to enter the factory mode, then go to the point;
    NVRAM CLEAR
    Initialize the program defaults to the NVRAM to achieve the accuracy of the following adjustment items.
    In factory mode, it is the first and important step to ensure that all values ??are default and correct values.
    (Position H / V, Clock, Phase), Source-dependent configuration
    To avoid an error, the initial process after making the factory settings. This element will have a verification dialog box "yes or no" to do the initial or not.
    News:
    After processing this element, the DUT must be turned off and then the AC turned off.
    Follow the steps and you will have the image again
    I hope you see correctly again

    Hola nuevamente Dan, por lo que cuentas, tuviste que haber entrado en el modo de servicio del televisor, mirando lo que te adjunte, veo que es el manual de servicio, tienes que volver a ingresar en el modo servicio;
    En cualquier fuente de entrada, luego presiona las teclas “?”, “SALIR” y “OK” (control remoto) para ingresar al modo de f?brica, luego ir al punto;
    NVRAM CLEAR
     Inicialice los valores predeterminados del programa a la NVRAM para lograr la precisi?n de los siguientes elementos de ajuste.
     En el modo de f?brica, es el primer e importante paso para asegurarse de que todos los valores sean valores predeterminados y correctos.
    (Posici?n H / V, Reloj, Fase), Configuraci?n dependiente de la fuente
    Para evitar un error, el proceso inicial despu?s de realizar la configuraci?n de f?brica. Este elemento tendr? un cuadro de di?logo de verificaci?n "s? o no" para hacer la inicial o no.
    Noticia:
    Despu?s de procesar este elemento, el DUT debe apagarse y luego apagarse la CA.
    Sigue los pasos y volver?s a tener la imagen bien
    Espero que vuelvas a ver correctamente

SOURCE: Sanyo DP40142 LCD backlight not working... How do I replace backlight inverter?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Fixing smart tv

I would consider getting a quote for repair. Sometimes it is something simple, other times it is more expensive to fix rather than buy a new one. I say get a quote, because in the long run a qualified repair shop can figure out what what needs to be replaced, rather than spending money on parts and hoping you found the broken component. If you can get your hands on a model that has a cracked screen, for example, it may be worth it to try to swap parts.

The equivalent Samsung model today costs $380.

My TV won't turn on. I have a 42" Sanyo LCD TV. We

You have a back light issue. Sometimes it's cheaper to get another one. Tcon board failure most likely. If you can find a rv repair or electronics repair they might do the work but as you got 5 years from it. Most TV sets fail in less time than that.

My 42" hd Sanyo flat

chances are your backlight inverter circuit has failed, repaired one a few months back with the same problem. To verify this, take the tv in a dark room. plug it in and take a bright\ flash light and shine it on the screen. turn the set on, you should see either the screen saver or video from your source. If this is the case, your inverter is at fault. Depending on your model, your backlight inverter is built onto your power supply board so you will have to replace the power supply/inverter board. Not hard to do, you can do it yourself with care.

I have a 1 year old sanyo 42" lcd tv, model DP42849, The tv was running perfect till one day watching a movie, the screen went black and audio went all strange, i shut it off and on, and nothing, the power...

You need to find out if the power supply is putting out 24vdc for the backlight inverter board, it can be that the inverter board has short circuits which will cause the 24vdc to go into shutdown to protect itself, you can disconnect the power cables to the inverter board to see if you will get the 24vdc back.

MY 42IN VIZIO HAS SOUND BUT PICTURE IS BLACK WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? The picture will show about for a few minutes then fades to black. I had it now for a year and three months and the warranty only covered...

That is exactly what it is. Mine, as well, (1yr and 4mos old) went out. But my sound, eventually, went out as well. However, I was lucky and had the two year warranty and it was covered. Apparently this is an issue. The fella's that picked up the TV made the remark that "this is another one".

I have a Sanyo DP42746 and it is about 3 years old. Yesterday the picture went out, but the sound still worked. It went off for a minute and then came back on. It is starting to get worse in that it is...

For what it's worth, you can download the official Sanyo repair manual for this TV (DP42746) at http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/43343/sanyo_dp42746.html. I uploaded it here when I had the same issue with my TV last year.
The solution is almost always to replace the Power Board (Y-Main) and the Upper and Lower Y Buffers. The parts and costs (from Sanyo in July 2009) are listed below (NOTE: Sanyo will not ship these parts to anyone but a repair shop):
1. V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01200A, Alt Part # LJ41-02759A) - USD $139.00
2. Upper Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01202A, Alt Part # LJ41-02760) - USD $64.00
3. Lower Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01203A, Alt Part # LJ41-02761A) - USD $64.00

Sanyo charges USD $10.50 for shipping, which brings the total cost for parts to USD $277.50. From my research, a shop would probably charge between USD $500 and $700 to do this repair.
FYI - there is a class action lawsuit pending against Sanyo for this issue. The V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Boards fail VERY frequently in this TV due to overheating. Hope this helps.

Sanyo lcd 32" vizion integrated hdtv

I have this tv as well with the same problem. From the research I've done, one of the 16 ccfl's(backlight bulbs) goes bad and they all will not come on then. I have not been able to find a replacement ccfl for this particular tv. The ccfl size if 3mm x 711mm. I have a feeling the scope of this problem is very large with this particular tv and this forum represents the tip of the iceberg. Sanyo unfortunately makes a piece of junk and we have that piece of junk sitting in our homes with no good solution other than to say, dont waste your money on another Sanyo tv.

Sound, No Picture

I took mine in to the Sanyo authorized repair shop and they found the screen itself was bad. Sanyo sells the new screen for $1100, almost double what I paid for it. The repair tech said they do that intentionally.
