Hello Terence, for what you are saying, that you have 12.6 volts in leg 4 (Supply) of STR G6551, according to the data sheet, it is low, it starts working from 14.4 volts, typical 16 volts and maximum 17, 6 volts
you would have to check the values of the power resistances of leg 4, also the capacitors and the optocoupler
I send you link to the JVC THS 55 DVD service manual and the STR G6551 data sheet
I hope you manage to make your JVC THS 55 DVD work

SOURCE: 920-fan command 2 pin connector from power supply

Well thats not good, however if you can identify the Positive, usually RED, and Negative, usually BLACK. on the Fan, You can actually carefully insert the bared wire into a spare drive power connector, fans are all 12 V. You can use the YELLOW.. +12V & the alongside BLACK - 0V. This will power your fan. BE CAREFUL doing this. Once inserted use a piece of tape to secure the wires and fold them back against the Plug and secure. You may be able to buy a converter that plugs into that power connector & the fan?

SOURCE: not getting any power

Probably a blown fuse. If you have a warranty or can return it do that, if not unplug it, open it up and there should be a 250 volt glass type fuse. pull it out and make sure it is blown. If it is replace it at radio shack. If it isnt check for loose wires around the power cable and the transformer.

Power supply blew U301 (5M02659R chip)

I don't know where you can get a replacement module, but this dvd player uses very standard voltages (3.3, 5, 12, etc). If you feel up to it you can power it up with a standard desktop ATX supply. It's just a matter of matching the proper wires. I do believe they are labelled in the player.

The cable that connects my JVC DVD player to surround sound power speaker has bent pins. dvd Digital theatre system th-a10

Use a bird beak pliers and gently straighten the pins out, A small bladed screw driver may assist in seperating the pins. Try getting them as close to possible as perfect. Be very careful when doing this as to much bending will break the pins. In that case you will eighter need to HARD WIRE it of possibly get a new one.
