Hi, Have you tried inputting the necessary security code to your HP laptop? Most if not all BT1800HG wireless router modem comes pre-configured to use a certain WEP code. In your HP laptop go through the WiFi configuration/Setup. Select option to use WEP security, type in required code normally found on the bottom of the BT1800HG. The numbers and/or characters below the bar code is the WEP code. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
