Evidently...

A really well known issue with apparently very poor grade Onkyo
CAPACITORS... (don't know if Onkyo has stepped up to it yet).

There are a lot of suggestions... games, seances... (etc.)
on the web... (contemporary wisdom) but the real solutions are:

1. contact the manufacturer to fix
2. eat the cost yourself (w/quality capacitors)

There seems to be an entire sphere of influence REPLACING these (gum-wrapper) caps... growing industry.

I WOULD NOT recommend doing it yourself... unless you rigorously, take pictures and notes... know or learn about heat-sync soldering... and study UP COMPLETELY ANTI-STATIC circuit handling procedures (ESD hazards).

Less than meticulous handling of any/all electronics can easily turn an inexpensive small issue into a catastrophic ($$$$) pile of useless rubble...

and... buying a general purpose "KIT" is much more expensive and wasteful than productive.. not likely to provide QUALITY results (shop Jimmy, noted below has a great "KIT" reputation)..

You might want to have a look at getting your equipment PROFESSIONALLY refurbished...

You will have to pull it down far enough to replace the light with another one that fits the hole. That is unless you can determine a way to fix it after taking it down.

sounds like a fuel problem carburetor needs cleaning and a rebuild kit installed use either NO ethanol fuel or use the additive with your fuel that helps when you use fuel with ethanol do not leave fuel in the tank to sit for an extended time it clogs and gums up the carburetor so try and run the mower out of fuel each time to help with the gum up problem

He is most likely right--a burnt light engine will cause problems like this and is very expensive to replace--the set uses a hot lamp for brightness and it sometimes burns one of the optical lens in the engine--blue,red or green. Google the model number and you will see how much the part by itself costs.
