My alcatel phone does that occasionally. I pull the battery out for a few minutes then put it back in and it seems to be ok for a few months.

SOURCE: Won't stop ringing

Well, I doubt it's the phone but just to make sure, swap phones around and see if the problem stays at the extension or moves with the phone. I am not familiar with the timed reminder feature but that certainly does sound suspicious... Have you used this feature before? Does it make your phone ring? There may be something special you need to do to answer the timed reminder and make it go away. Possibly canceling the timed reminder was too late after it was set off.

SOURCE: uniden cordless phone 900 MHz

A phone uses a voltage drop to determine when it is answered or hung up. What is happening in your case is the phone or base unit, or worse yet the house wiring has a short to ground somewhere. This also cause the static you hear. You can get a regular phone and plug it into the same cord and see if it works normal. If so it is not the house wiring but the phone or base unit. If so you can only hope to find the short yourself which is very time consuming and difficult on modern digital units. Sorry to say it's cheaper to get a new unit than pay for repair. The only other thing that cause those symptoms is the batteries are going dead. I assumed you checked this first. If not you can try changing the battery pack on the phone.

Our telephone only rings twice and hangs up.

Possible short on the line.find the network interface on the back or side of the house(usually next to the power meter).open it up, disconnect the small cord and plug your phone in (phone should be corded) have someone call you.if the phone rings 2 times, chances are it is the telephone comany side. call the telephone co.if it rings normally, it is on your side.fix it yourself, call someone else or call the telephone co.(ex att installer 34 yrs)

We are unable to turn a ringer on, for when the general number rings, on one Mitel 5020 IP Phone, and we would like to make it so another phone doesn't have to hear the ring on the general number ring.

This is set on the buttons for the phone from within the system programming. Individual buttons can be set to NO Ring, Ring, Ring Continuous, Delay Ring, or Delay Ring Continuous.

Continuous meaning that even if you are on the phone, it will ring audibly on your phone. If it's not set to continuous, it will only give a blip.

You should contact your vendor for assistance in setting this up.

Disconnects incoming calls after one ring

The problem may be a short on your line. (Have the local Teleco check your line.) If you have other phones, you may want to check them for dial tone(DT) when this happens. If you have no DT, your cordless may be the problem...unplug, and let charge overnight. If problem continues, replace the battery in cordless, or discontinue use.

as for you second point , if a caller rings but hangs up before the message beep or after the beep but hangs up , there will be no message recorded

My phone works, but it doesn't ring!

disconnect all phones and just connect the GE phones.
there is only a certain amount of power transmited through a phone line to make the phone ring if you have too many phones running off the same line then the ones further away from the main connection suffer
