SOURCE: golf cart smoking

It is most likely related to the rings, but running it would unstick them very fast if they were stuck. It's possible that sitting let rust develop in the cylinder walls and there may be some grooves in them now. They could also just be really worn cylinders. They make some oil conditioners which I wouldn't recommend on a car, but might work fine on a golf cart. I can't recall the name, but it was in a silver can, maybe called engine restore... You could always try that before resorting to a rebuild.

Testimonial: "thanks for your advice. I will try an additive before a rebuild."

I have a 1994 Yamaha Gas golf cart that has been running great. Now it want turn over or crank with no sound at all when pressing gas pedal.

Bad connections at battery clamps and cable ends are very common. Check fuses and other wire connections. Note these carts have ground wires, not frame ground like a car. If you ground to frame make sure you ground your frame to the battery

After installing six new 6V batteries in series on my 1999 Yamaha G16E golf cart, full power is fine up to the selenoid. nopower to the shifter or motor after that. Upon plugging in my charger to the cart,...

Verify series battery wiring. The main positive wire which goes to the solenoid should be on a positive battery post, that will be your main positive. Then from there we go series to all the rest of the batteries until we are left with a negative battery post, that will be your main negative. Make sure your charger wires are connected to the mains.
