SOURCE: repairing 20mm af nikon lens diaphragm lock

I'll offer the same answer I just gave on a D200 question: With the lens off, look at the camera mount area. If you are looking straight at the mount, there is a small tab sticking out at about 7oclock on the outside edge of the mount ring. The tab is spring loaded and may be damaged. You should be able to push the tab toward the base of the camera and it will snap back if functioning properly. If it feels loose or doesn't spring back, then switch that ab controls is not being activated.

SOURCE: Nikon D50 with Nikon DX 18-55 lens will not focus

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to autofocus and take pictures with any other lens, then it means that your problem lies with the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning. I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens.

Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

SOURCE: I have a Nikon D3100

That lens will work with the D3100, except for the autofocusing. In order to autofocus with the D3100, you need AF-S lenses, such as the AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED or the
AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR.

Does the nikon nikkor af 70-210mm telephoto lens fit on a nikon d3000?

Yes. The smaller sensor of the D3000 will make it the equivalent of about a 105-315mm lens on a 35mm film or full-frame digital camera. Also, the autofocus will not work with the D3000.

Is the nikorF AF 35 to 105mm Lens compatible to Nikon D7000? How about tamron 70 to 210mm with 52 adaptor?

The Nikkor lens is fully compatible. The Tamron is dependent on the mounting. Tamron makes lenses for a variety of cameras. A lens with a Canon mount, for example, will not fit onto a Nikon camera. If the lens has a Nikon mount, there should be no problem using it with the D7000.

Remember that the D7000's sensor is smaller than a frame of 35mm film. This will cause the lenses to produce a field of view that is smaller than on a 35mm camera. The 35-105mm, for example, will give a field of view similar to what a 53-160mm would produce on a film camera.

Hi, I have an old Nikon F90X with Nikon AF NIKKOR 28-200 mm lens. Can I use this len in othernew Nikon digital camera? Thanks, Tz

Yes. But unless you're using one the the expensive full-frame models the lens will produce images that are magnified by a factor of 1.5. So your 28-200mm lens will behave like a 42-300. Aperture values are unaffected though. On the plus side, the fact that DX sensors only use the middle of the lens image means that the pronounced image pin-cushioning is greatly reduced, and the vignetting (darkened corners) is also reduced.

Both versions of the 28-200 (AF-D and AF-G, click for details courtesy of Ken Rockwell) lack an in-built focus motor, so autofocus only works with Nikon bodies which have an AF motor built in. Not all the digital models have them, but if that's the case with yours then you can still focus manually.

D3000 Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens: hi,i brought a nikon 3000 , is it compatible with ...

ALL Nikon AFS branded lenses are compatible with the D3000. The AF lenses are usable in manual mode. Sigma, Tokina and Tamron lenses without the built-in motor are manual mode as well.
To be sure, check the manufacturer;s websites.
Hope this helps,
