SOURCE: Bissel Proheat Carpet cleaner

My Bissell had the same problem. The hand attachment does not use heated water. So I Found a clog of calcium and dirt in the heater portion of the unit. The heater is in the handle behind the red heater light on the front. Remove the upper portion of the handle. Remove the lower two screws in the lower portion and the parts will split apart. Remove the hoses and remove the heater. (mark where the wires go) The bottom of the heater can be removed with a screwdriver. The tubes leading into the heater is where the clog was but there was a lot of debris inside Make sure to clear it all and the hoses as well. I put it together and it works great.

SOURCE: Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub

Remove the brush block, is the shaft on it or broken off. Replace the block if broken off. Turn unit over, with brush block removed, handle tilted back, is the square hole turning, if not then the turbine is bad, this is what turns the brushes.

SOURCE: electrolux lux vaccum cleaner hose and fitting/nozzle needed

Ladies! Go to vaccums24X7.com. They have more parts for older machines than you can imagine. They have good pix to help you ID your model if you can't read the worn spec plate. They have hoses for the 1970's-1990's old "iron horse" electrolux canister models. So does ebay and a few other sites...do a google search and you will find them. Sadly, Electrolux (the company) is more interested in selling new machines than supporting old ones...like everyone else these days. Still my old (1982) Silverado Delux really sucks, so much so in fact that it pulled the liner out of the old hose and would not pick up dirt as a result. A new hose is about $70....you can get a whole new vaccum at Wally-World for that, though as you point out they do not have the vaccum that the older machines do, but then the older machines are always needing work because of their age. I hope that helped you.

I have a Delonghi Multi Vac M31 and have never used the wet part...I would like to clean my carpet using the wet vacuum...can you please tell me how I can do this? Many thanks

A good place to start is the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can google the make and model of your multi-vac to get another copy.

Most wet-vacs work off the same principle. Pre-vacuum the carpet to make sure there is not normal surface dirt and dust. Next Squirt on hot soapy water, scrub it in - then suck up the dirt and collect the dirty water.

So after vacuuming the area to be wet-vacuumed and you are lucky enough to have a separate reservoir on the wet-vac unit - add pre-mixed carpet cleaner into hot tap water (with carpet cleaner mixed into it by the ratios described on the carpet cleaner soap bottle) to the multi-vac water reservoir (from a quick look, the Delonghi doesn't have one) . With the settings for wet vac (per the owners manual), squeeze the trigger for applying the carpet cleaner. Typically, you will go slower than normal vacuuming. Give it a chance to soak in and dissolve/lift the grim and dirt. Come back slowly to pull the dirty water out of the carpet.

There are multi-wet vacs (like the M31) that don't have a reservoir for the carpet cleaner. In that case, you need to pre-mix a couple of gallons of carpet clean in a separate container or bucket. Next spray or sprinkle carpet cleaner onto/into the carpet. Try to scrub the cleaner into the carpet to really get at the dirt and lift it. Next is to vacuum up the wet stuff.

Some carpet cleaners do not contain an anti-foaming agent. I recommend you either add an anti-foaming agent or buy a carpet clean product that already contains it - otherwise, it tends to be a big mess that takes a lot more time.

I hope these tips help.

I think the trigger on my upholstery hose is broke how can i tell? trigger is loose- water just flows out and i have to shut the machine off. i have a hoover steam vac dual deep cleaner

The most common issue with this is the white nozzle tip broken. sometimes it comes out. it still could be the trigger. take it to a shop and they can tell right away. the trigger is spring loaded, you should feel tension.

The vacuum cleaner does not pick up anything from carpet. It does not even pick up pieces of thread laying on carpet. On tile floors it blows dirt away instead of picking it up. I've tried all the settings...

Sounds like there is a clog..

Usually its in the hose - look closely.. Stretch the hose out straight and look in there good..

Or a clog could be in the vac close to where the hose conects to the vac on either end..

This is most case scenario with these types of vacs..

I hope this helps !!

Hoover steam vac

  1. Remove your cleaning solution tank and set aside.
  2. Remove the lid to your recovery tank.
  3. Remove the front panel of the recovery tank by sliding it straight up.
  4. Slide the convertor half way down into the same slot. (Curved side down). The opening should be facing upward.
  5. Replace the recovery tank lid.
  6. Open the door marked stair/upholstery cleaning connection.
  7. Press the tube connector with the black tabs onto the projection inside the door.
  8. Replace you cleaning solution tank and you are ready to go.
Note: It's a good idea to turn your brushes off. Also, you may need to prime your hose by turning on your cleaner and holding the hand tool onto a flat surface for a few moments before use.

Replace interior hose for cleaning attachment for...
Posted by castcomm on May 29, 2008
How do you dismantle handle to replace aforementioned hose?
Swing arm on unit goes all the way to the floor. Is this normal? Is there a "stop" broken that caused the hose to stretch, and ultimately break?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover SteamVac Carpet / Upholstery Deep Carpet Cleaner.

There are handle screws that you can get into the handle and then you can back track the replace the interior hose for the cleaning attachment. There should not be a stop that caused the hose to stretch ad break. The hoses after a while do get old crack and break due from normal use or if the bend @ sharp angles, this is common among all vinyl vacuum cleaner hoses. You should really check with your local factory authorized Hoover vac dealer in your area or , please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
