Have a Samsung m3870fw printer. Says memory full. Will not print faxes but will print from PC. Went to tech menu to clear memory and said unavailable? Am I doing something wrong?

The memory full message indicates the fax memory is full. You'll need to look at the Fax storage and either print or delete faxes.

This unit may have a secure fax storage that requires a code to print those faxes. Check under Menu > Fax Feature > Secure Receive > Print (alternatively: Setup > Machine Settings > Fax Setup > Secure Receive > Print). You should see a prompt for the security code.

There can also be stored print or fax jobs on the unsecured storage on the printer, Menu > Job Management > Stored Job. Similarly jobs can be stored on an external drive. Press the Document Box button > Next > System Boxes to see if there are stored jobs that can be deleted.

On some printer/fax machines, I've seen just the list of sent and received jobs (with the date/time stamp and phone number) exceed that storage space. That doesn't seem likely in for the Samsung ProXpress SL-M3870FW.

I hope this helps.

Can't receive large faxes

This is not a UK model but the same principles apply. When you receive a fax it is stored in the memory until the whole page is received, then it will start to print. The memory is not split so if you have a lot of faxes to transmit stored in the memory, they will gobble up the memory and reduce the size for receptions to be stored in. Check to see what is stored and delete them to free up memory. If this does not resolve the issue then the machines memory will need to be cleared by the service mode. As I don't know the UK version I cant advise any further.

On the display it is saying there are faxes stored in the memory.how do we retrieve them from the memory.

You didn't indicate what model fax printer this was...

Most machines will have a menu button. Hit it, enter fax options, and select memory print or print stored (or similar wording).

Sometimes, just hitting the fax mode button will bring up a prompt asking if you want to print the stored faxes (or delete them).

Are you able to print out a fax that was sent out approximately 6 months ago

No. Not from a fax machine. Some faxes have the ability to store sent faxes but this feature caused more problems with memory filling up than it solved. So, the machine usually deleted the job after a short period and it is extremely unlikely that your sent document is anywhere near your fax now. Not a stupid question though.

Try unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds, but you might need a technician to access the SERVICE MODE.
