Hello Rob, ask, the model of your Denon, is DCM-230 or DCM320?, since I do not locate the 230 manual
From what you describe, I would try to replace the interconnected RCA-RCA cable and if it persists, you may have either a false contact on your Denon's RCA output connectors or a problem with a low-signal power supply
On the other hand you comment that it does not read some CD, it is possible that you have the laser reader low, for which it may require an adjustment or the replacement of the same, or need a more effective cleaning, than the one that makes the CD cleaner, I mean to clean the lens of the reader with a lightly moistened isop with alcohol, preferably Isopropyl Alcohol
I hope my comment has served you

YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A REAR DRUM BEARING FAILING. IT IS A SMALL TEFLON BEARING THAT SLIPS ON OVER THE REAR SHAFT OF THE DRUM AND INTO THE HOLE IN THE REAR OF THE DRYER. THERE ARE ALSO FRONT GLIDES THAT SUPPORT THE FRONT OF THE DRYER. OLDER DRYERS HAVE THE FRONT SUPPORTS UNDER THE DRUM SO THE DRUM RESTS ON THEM. NEWER G.E. DRYERS HAVE A PLASTIC RING WITH THREE TEFLON GLIDES ON TOP OF THEM AND THE DRUM HANGS FROM THESE GLIDES. REPLACE ALL OR SOME OF THE ABOVE PARTS TO ELIMINATE YOUR SQUEAK.
ON OTHER POSSIBILITY, THE IDLER PULLEY THAT KEEPS TENSION ON THE BELT CAN BECOME A SQUEAK MAKER.

SOURCE: Denon DCM 370 5 disc changer does not show all discs!

Probably drive belt that rotates the carosel inside is not lining up properly,or the belt that moves the laser mech into position, sounds like its just not lining up properly

SOURCE: nad cd player cd541i noise

Hi...
That one is going to need Tech service.

I've worked on several of the NAD players.

Sounds like a focus or gain adjust needed.

this is done by a belt drive. i have seen the belts get old and slip. try to gently pull the door open as you hit eject. If you get it to open and find that it will not fully open or close without assistance this is the problem.

I have a denon DCM-360 still working --but certain discs it does not recognize --these are CDs I just bought from amazon, still sealed (Dutton label).

The only thing to think of is to try a cd cleaner. Some have very fine brushes to clean the dust mites out. Typically the player is on it's way out when this starts to happen but I hope that I am wrong. Good luck to you

My DCM-360 has stopped playing discs after my moving house. It spins the carousel, picks up the disc and then puts it down without spinning the disc up. Laser problem or disc-spinning-motor problem or...

Had a similar problem with my Denon. When I inserted CD it takes it in but immediately stops - like it doesnt sense the CD. Same problem with Single or Multi changer. Removed cover, removed reader ( 4 screws) and found lens had fallen out. Cleaned, reinstalled with touch of super glue on rim - works fine.

Denon DCM-280. Tray won't open, there are CDs in

If you don't wanna send it for service, open the chassis of the player and free the CDs from the tray. Its highly likely that the CDs came off the trays and got stuck inside.
