Error message "remove and check black cartridge"

Did you not remove a protective plastic seal from the cartridge? Check the bottom of the cartridge.

you can try by cleaning the copper contacts on the cart .. and if it works fine with the old cart i.e if it doesnt gives any error with the old ones then possibly the problem might be with the new cart..

Did you remove the tape from the contacts of the new black cartridge? If so once the new one is in, unplug the printer from power and power it back on, it should do a full check after a power on off.

try cleaning the cart. contacts with alchol and a q-tip, let it dry then replace the cart and see what happens.you may have a bad cartridge or a broken trace on the contacts on the printer or cartridge.

Both ink cartridges must be replaced at the same time for a successful alignment.

According to the HP website, the correct cartridge for the HP PSC950 is HP15 or HP78. Comes in black only or tri-color.

This can occur if the printer misreads the electrical ID of the cartridges. You may be able to cure the issue by cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown here.

It is also possible the cartridge has failed electrically. In this case check the warranty information here if it is an HP original cartridge or contact your dealer for warranty information.

Also make sure you are using a #15 black and #78 color cartridge, other cartridges that look similar such as the #23, #17 or #41 color or #45 black are not compatible.

try to clean the cartridge on the copper side with tissue with and alcohol maybe the contact points doesnt meet or the cartidge itself is already defective. try also use an empty good cartridge just to to determine wich cartridge is defective.

I topped off the ink and pressed enter and set up at the same time...I didn't have to do the page alignment again and my copies seemed pretty good. Thank you to the site for the tips!!! Happy Day connien2003
