HP 2130 printer won't go after COSTCO refills?????

With respect to your HP OJ J4680 printer, which uses HP 901/901XL ink cartridges, it sounds like this is either a compatible/clone cartridge from overseas in which case you should not remove the orange top as it is molded into the cartridge, or you recently purchased or had the ink cartridge refilled (at Costco, etc.) and the storage clip (which seals the base of the cartridges to prevent the nozzles from drying out) is attached to the ink cartridge. If this is a storage clip, just press hard on the clips top lever at an angle to remove. Try cleaning the print heads using your HP maitenence program of by going into your printers section of the start menu.

Power on printer and soak up spilled ink with towels. Next we suggest you remove PRINTHEAD from printer and inspect for damage to contact pin(s) on the INSIDE OF THE PRINTHEAD ASSEMBLY. This model HP printer may only let you use genuine Canon/Epson printer cartridges. If you try to refill these ink cartridges it will not work because the HP cartridges have an embedded chip in the cartridge that detects the empty cartridge even though it has been refilled.

you must replace the chips with new ones

Go back to Costco, tell them the cartridge doesn't work now they've refilled it and request your money back.

Put the refund to a propriety HP cartridge.

I've had this issue. not with refills but with generic copies, some work, some don't work. That's getting towards what HP wanted when they started chipping their cartridges.

It is always recommended to use genuine HP cartridges.
As if we will use the non HP or refilled cartridges, it will reduce the life of the printer.
And we will get an error "cartridge problem".
