I have an older model ariens zoom zero turn with a 18hp Kohler. This spring, it won’t start. There was one “clunk” sound when I turned the key. I replaced the solenoid and it cranks great, but won’t fire. I have replaced the spark plug, fuel filter, fuel line and drained the old gas and replaced with new. What am I missing?

See if the videos help. It sounds like a steering pump issue, because of the 'growling' the same as a car. Steering fluid up to level?

Running for about a minute sounds like fuel starvation. There could be an obstruction in the fuel tank, which allows the engine only the fuel that is in the fuel line, until it quits.
Why it won't start again is probably another matter.

Joel, Recheck battery to make sure it has good charge >12 v and all battery and starter wiring,plugs,connections are clean,tight and undamaged. If you remove spark plug and engine spins freely from the key, the engine compression release or valve clearance needs adjusted. It is probable the solenoid or starter is faulty, the starter Bendix/drive may be sticking. If you can, give the starter a couple sharp raps with a hammer or bar and then try to start.

Make sure the key is providing good power to the solenoid. If it is the the solenoid is bad.

Remove belt from opposite end so you don't fight with clutch end.

suspect a damaged belt or tensioner spring for the drive belt... these units have no servicable trans-axles. or did you just remove both rear wheels ???
