I also have an inspiron 1525 and I once had this issue (I'm running xp pro) but I found that you need to reinstall you audio driver, here is a link to the vista driver

My burner will not burn cd's anymore. It still plays cd's fine as well as play and burn dvd's fine. I see no errors in hardware setup. It is a nec dvd +- RW ND 6650A that came with my Dell Inspiron E1705.

The CD Burner / Player / DVD Burner are all different heads. If the Dell Inspiron E1705 is an older model it is most likely you have reached the end of it's usable life for the CD burner part. If it is new the CD burner is most likely defective and hopefully warrantied. Otherwise these CD/DVD units can be replaced relatively inexpensively (as compared to buying a new laptop).

Dell inspiron e1705 when i burn a dvd it wont play back it says the playback feature may not be avaliable

okay.. it sounds like you may be burning a multisession disc

if you can get to the "burn settings" select the "master copy" option instead of the "multi-session disc" option..
if it only says that playback MAY not be available, try it anyway see what happens. however if you try it in a computer then you should get it working reguardless as a multi-session disc is apparently "open" for information to be written on at a later time...

Dell Inspiron E1705 battery light flashes 4 amber lights, then 1 green. The battery seems to charge.

The ambar lights are warning you the battery is becoming to dead, it means in a short time, if it has not happens now, the battery won't retain the charge anymore, it is time thinking in a replacement if you use your laptop without plug in the power outlet.

maby you can use xp disk to startup computer and select the R from the menu thad displays than you are in the repair funktion
type help and you see a list .
type fixboot and enter
than type exit and now you are in the dos mode

restart and i hope xp wil also repair your bootmanager and computer starts normaly

download the windows relase version and burn it to disk .it are avalebel on microsoft webpage

First hit ctrl-alt-del at the same task manager will open and you can shut it down there then go to control panel and click on add/remove programs, select media direct and click uninstall

These extra keys are manufacture specific. The software provided with the system decides the funtion the additional keys has to perform. However, Some manufacturer enables option to change the default settings of the key. This again, if available should be in the software provided. If not then there is no other option to reconfigure it.
