SOURCE: Janome Excel 5124 reverse lever

If you pull the bottom off the machine (half a dozen screws) there is a cam on the main drive shaft. The cam is probably jammed in the reverse position due to lack of lubrication on the shaft. You can move the cam back manually and it will operate in forward direction. It appears that the shaft needs lubrication.

SOURCE: Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

Yeah. I like the $15 fix better. Go to Ebay and search for "Kodak Carousel Projector Advance Repair Kit". Before you purchase you can diagnose, and it comes with detailed instructions. The same guy also has a kits for other common problems, as well as the "tune up kit". Or you can buy the Solenoid Link, directly and try it without detailed instructions.

SOURCE: Kodak Projector 760H. Carousel won't

Chances are that your projector has a broken solenoid "link". This "Link" connects the slide change solenoid and the slide change mechanism. Over time this part becomes brittle & cracks, rendering the slide change non-functional. A pretty easy fix for an authorized repair dealer.

SOURCE: problems with using a 140 carousel on a Kodak 4600

There is nothing wrong with your slide trays. Your projector needs an adjustment to the cycle contact assembly. The constant cycle mode is a dead-giveaway. You need to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer for this adjustment. Should be relatively quick - - it takes longer to get the case apart than to make the repair!

SOURCE: Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.

Kodak Ektagraphic AF-1 will not advance or reverse

If the select button functions correctly, Chances are the direction lever in the mechanism is bound up or the Direction Lever Spring is broken. If the Spring is broken or the Direction Lever is bound up, the Index Lever will go out straight when the Advance / Reverse buttons are pushed - instead of moving out straight , then moving forward or reverse at a 45 degree angle.
The Slide Change mechanism needs to be re-built. The bad news is this projector was manufactured from 1976 to 1984. Kodak scrapped the repair parts in the early 1990's. Your best bet is to find a repair shop that has a projector that they can salvage parts for your projector from.... Good Luck !!

Kodak Slide Projector not moving carousel

Chances are that the LINK that connects the cycle solenoid plunger to the cycle lever is broken. This happens a lot on this generation of projectors. You can purchase the parts from: www.micro-tools.com, as Kodak no longer stocks parts. micro-tools should be able to provide installation instructions! Good Luck!

Slides will not advamce when you push lever. It is 50 yrs old.

The KODAK Carousel 4600 was manufactured from 1981 to 2004. If the tray won't advance with the push button on the projector, but will reverse, then it is a contact problem under the handle. If it doesn't cycle in forward OR reverse, but the "SELECT" feature does work, then there is a problem with the cycle (orange) wiring or the slide-change mechanism requires an adjustment. If forward, reverse and select ALL don't work, chances are the low-voltage side of the power motor is no longer providing the required voltage. An authorized repair dealer can help you sort this out.

I bought a used kodak 650 carousel slide projector and i can't get the slide tray to load. Is it because it came with a 140 slide tray instead of an 80 slide tray?

The KODAK Carousel 650 was manufactured approximately between 1964 and 1971.
Try removing the tray and pressing the cycle button(s) on the side of the projector. Watch the levers in the cut-out on the top of the projector. The lever closest to the rear of the projector should move back & forth (as you actuate the cycle buttons). The lever toward the front of the projector should extend and push forward (front of the projector) when you push the "forward" button, & extend and push toward the rear in reverse. If you are not seeing these levers move as described, then the chances of your projector needing a repair are likely. The good news: parts are still available. The bad news: You will have to find a factory-trained repair dealer to make the repairs for you.

No reverse

Your unit could have several problems. First you need to remove the bottom of the unit. Turn it upside down and unwind the power cord from the storage area. Remove the 6 star screws. Remove the bottom cover. Now you can access the cycle solenoid and lever. From this point on you will need to be very careful. Plug the unit in. Turn on and depress the forward button. Observe the cycle lever and how it works. It could be out of adjustment and not pulling the mechanism far enough in the reverse mode. If that is the case adjust the solenoid location so the lever pulls the mechanism further in reverse mode. If adjustment is not the problem check for dried grease on the cycle cam. Clean all the grease off with an electrical degreaser (do the adjustments and the degreasing with the power disconnected). The unit uses special grease (high temp) which comes from Kodak. You should be able to try it without grease to see if the problem is solved. If it is then you will need to get some grease part #TL2730. If you do not feel confident doing any of the procedures you will need to find a shop that can work on these units. Most people are not familiar with them as they are fairly old. Cost should not exceed $50 US. Good luck.
