The SFScout4 sat idle after operating fine. The battery gauge shows a full charge, but now the scooter does not run. I hear no sounds when go lever is pulled. Any idea why the unit won't operate?

SOURCE: shoprider cadiz scooter, batteries show full

I think your batteries haven`t been charged properly,or they have been left standing so the charge has leaked out.At a minimum your batteries need to be charged for 12 hrs a day for the first month if not they will not build the capacity and will dwindle and die for example it is at only 25% capacity, but looks like a fullcharge, it says it fully charged but will die
quickly this happens because it is charged to its full capacity but that is only 25% of the batteries true potential
resulting in short battery life.
Unfortunately majority of scooter batteries like this have to be newly replaced.

SOURCE: I have a Pride Legnd..the scooter started loseing

hi, first you need to check the connections to the batteries then to the motor controller, and don't dismiss the speed pot, disconnect the speed pot and try a normal 5K pot inplace of it, if the scooters responds you find the problem just a case of getting the right speed pot. Check the freewheel switch, normally it located on the motor side.

No power after charging

Either the charger is no good or the battery is no good (will not take charge). Use voltage meter to determine what is what.

Charger showing full batteries not

No, you almost for sure have screw down terminals on your battery, not a fitted battery. The charger will read full when the charger has filled it as high as it can or has fully cycled. With a full charge take your batteries to an auto store or mechanic and have them tested.

Scooter won't move

Things to check: Drive/Free wheeling switch, brake release lever (this activates an internal micro-switch that enable power to the drive system, battery box connectors (condition of contacts - corroded, missing, loose. etc.); main control cable (corrosion. lose or missing pins, etc). If all these are OK, could be controller or drive control potentiometers (speed, forward, backward) on the handle-bar (tiller).
Good luck!

soo Have the provider install new batteries. No telling how long the "new" batteries sat on a shelf and in the showroom without being charged. The batteries are warrantied and should be replaced. While you're at have them check out the scooter after the new batteries are installed and remember to charge before use. Hope this helps

The (new) batteries indicate from the charger that they are fully charged yet only go for 1 mile before indicator goes 'red".

diane how far did ya used to go with a full charge? Just because the provider said the batteries are new doesn't mean they are new coulda sat on the self for 6 months. New batteries can go bad or in your case probably just one is bad. batteries should be under warranty contact the place you bought them and have them check them for you make sure they are fully charged when they pick them up. Hope this helps

Hi, I have obtained a scooter that is 4yrs old but unused and am having problems getting it to go. It is a Prestige Explorer 6 and I have charged the batteries which seem to hold a charge and show full on...

Hello, it sounds like you may have a few issues going with this scooter. Due to the age of the scooter, my first guess is the batteries. It sounds like there is enough power for the auxilliary systmes but not enough to power the scooter. Sometimes when a scooter sits for a while the gel inside the batteries will oxidize and prevent then from taking a full charge. The charger registers a full charge, but instead of being full of power, the batteries are full of crud and need to be replaced. Take the batteies to Auto Zone or somplace that can test them for free with a volt meter to ensure they are at the manufacturer's guidelines; probably 12 v, 33 amp.

If the batteries are good, the freewheel is in drive and the scooter still won't move, it may be a wiring problem or the motors may have siezed up. Check the wiring connecting from the accelerator/wigwag/controller to the motor to make sure they are talking to each other. If that is OK, the motors may have rusted or siezed up on the inside from sitting so long, which may be the reason why the scooter can't be pushed- the axle is locked up.

I hope this information is helpful to you- good luck!

Hi My wife has a Golden Companion GC 221, has new

Has the scooter been stored for a while? It sounds like there are damaged cells in the batteries. This can cause the charger to register a full charge when actually the batteries are nearly empty. When you operate the scooter, you cannot get full power because the batteries just don't have it to give. Try replacing the batteries to see if that solves that problem.

93 LX 5.0 replaced battery, ran fine then would not start

sounds like you have a good battery, get the car started put a voltmeter to wire connected to the back of your alternator. if you have at least 13.25 volts you have a good unit if any lower replace the alternator
the click sound you are hearing comes from your relay it is getting low voltage from the battery. because the battery has no juice caused by a bad alternator

hope to help shack
