If the Rainbow kept running but the power nozzle stopped, it could be the Circuit Breaker PN2E PN2 that tripped. Try resetting to see if that fixes problem.
If the Rainbow stopped running, the auto reset could have tripped. Wait about an hour to see if it resets.

Possible that it needs a much needed maintenance, remove the pan up and clean up all the clogged dirt in the system, clean up the filter, use a good brush to wipe out all dirt and check if wires are damaged in the feed. Check the switch and reset back filters.
If the fault is recurring the motor must be checked for weakness, might need a brush up.
Hi, there is no reset button on a Rainbow vacuum. There is a safety switch on all E series and E2 series Rainbow vacuums, that keep it from running without the water basin on it.
If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

the water basin has a safety on it so the unit cannot run without it. if you look on the bottom of the rainbow you can see a small oval shaped space that you can depress just to test and see if it still runs it will only run with this depressed.
Hi painter1 and skkkfam,
even not knowing what Rainbow models are you using, I know that in the newer versions there's a red buton in upper side that is "Restore". Other case is a security shaft that makes the machine available when we turn it on, wich works only when the water tank is on it.
you'll need to see if that shaft is well sit in it's place and working perfectly (you'll ear a small click pushing a small insider black button in the lower side of the machine, when separated of the wet canister). If nothing of this works, you'll need to see the engine, because it's clogged.
