Question about Dishwashers

Open Question

Cata dwi60m dishwasher outlet got blocked so dishwasher wouldn't drain. I've cleared the blockage by having to remove drain pump to clear blockage. Now rebuilt cant select any programme

When rebuilt seal hadn't set correctly so water leaked into to base, plus dishwasher had been laid on its back so flood microswitch trip has been pressed, now back in correct position but not sure if it needs a soft reset on the programme switches.

SOURCE: Need to know how to re-set the anti-flood device

I managed to clean the filter inside the dishwasher and drain a little residual water. I then re-plugged in the appliance and the anti-flood device seemed to reset and I have n't had any problems since.

Lights 2+4 flashing on dishwasher & won't drain

Doe the pump make a sound as if it's trying to pump out? As it sounds as though your pump is either obstructed, or the outlet waste water pipe from back outside of the dishwasher to the drain, maybe bent somewhere or blocked & not allowing water to exit the dishwasher, if both are clear of blockages & no noise of the pump kicking in to empty the dishwasher then I would definitely say the pump has failed...

I hope this helps....

Bosch classixx dishwasher sgs43c12 not draining.

The only way to eliminate a pump issue is to actually remove the pump and check it internally, it doesn't take much to block them and also the impellers can come loose, It sound like you are handy with tools so i suggest removing the drain pump and while it's off check the hoses that run to and from the pump for obstructions and make sure the impeller is not loose.

Occasionally, the pump will jam with material as they are very flimsy.
One method that sometimes solves this prolem is to remove the outlet pipe from the drain pipe and blow hard down the outlet.Thi is sometimes sufficient to clear the blockage.
Of course your pump may need replacing.

Dishwasher pump runs continuously. Wont do anything else

The outlet pump or pipe have got blocked (very common) and water has overflowed into the base.
This has activated a float switch to tell machine to pump out all time.
You need to remove the plinth of appliance and remove with sponge or syringe the water and clear outlet blockage and all will be fine

DISHWASHER WILL NOT DRAIN PLUMBER WAS CONTACTED DRAIN LINE IS FINE LOOKING FOR OTHER CAUSES? THANKS, SEAN

Can you hear the pump trying to drain it? If you can then you have a blockage. Try blowing hard down the outlet hose, what happens? Have you checked all filters?

What would cause my dishwasher not to drain?

not sure if you have posted the model number of your dishwasher.

There are several reasons for dishwasher not to drain.

1. faulty drain pump
2. clogged kitchen sink drain
3. drain cycle is not reached due to faulty dishwasher controller
4. clogged drain hose
5. the wash cycle is not completed due to heater not heating water - (try rinse cycle to confirm)

Happy to help if you can provide some details on when the drain cycle is not working. do you get any alarms on dishwasher..etc.

I have a Bosch SG145M55GB dishwasher which is not letting out teh water. The motor works because dishes are being washed, but water is staying in teh dishwasher. I assume its teh pump, but how do I get to...

The drain outlet could be blocked. First take the drain hose off under the sink and check the spigot is clear . Then check the sump in the dishwasher for blockages. After that you will have to get inside of the base and remove the drain pump to see if there are any stoppages. Good luck.

Water is clogged in the bottm of the unit. how do I clear the drain?

Hi,

The drain filter is clearly visible at the bottom of the wash compartment but there are several possibilities as to why there is still water in the bottom of your washer:

1. Blocked drain filter
At the bottom of the wash compartment, there is a fine mesh grille and a plastic cylinder which protrudes from it. Grip the plastic cylinder, twist anti-clockwise and pull it upwards. To clean it, remove any debris from the cylinder, rinse then replace in reverse order of the above.

2. Blocked/kinked waste hose
Check the waste outflow hose at the back of the washer for any kinks or other damage. Also remove the hose where it attaches to your sink (or waste outlet) and check for any blockages.

3. Blocked waste disposal / sink trap / waste outflow
Make sure your sink is draining efficiently. Clean as necessary

4. Faulty waste pump
If all of the above check out, you may have a faulty pump. Please post back for further advice regarding this after completing the above checks.

Regards,
BElectric

Dishwasher runs but will not drain

sounds like the outlet pump is blocked for this you need to power off the appliance and unplug either remove one side of the dishwasher or tilt back and see if you can get under where the outlet pipe comes from you will see a white pump there should be a metal screwclip holding the outlet hose onto the pump remove this then look inside the hole to check for the blockage normaly rice or fat if you can remove it with a coathanger then all is good if not your going to have to remove the pump and take the side off 3 screws be carefull of the rubber seal then give it a good clean also check the feeder pipe to the pump for any blockage. Also after this remove the filter inside the dishwasher and check there is nothing blocking the small hole to the outlet pump.
