SOURCE: kenwood kdc-w3041 protect mode

Hello ia737,

The "protect" display is probably being caused by a shorted or grounded (touching vehicle chassis or other ground) speaker wire. Check the speaker wires for bare spots, etc and insulate or replace as necessary.

You do not need to remove the fuses to force a "cold reset" of the W-3041. You can simply press the "reset" button on the front of the unit. It's the little recessed button at the lower left of the volume control. Use the straightened end of a paper clip or ballpoint pen to momentarily hold the button in.

Hope this helps.

Make sure that the source is set to "Standby" when trying to access the menu. It took me about an hour to figure it out and afterward I felt like a ******.

Viera volume stuck at full. Cannot lower volume from remote or from the button on the TV. Muting works from remote but no volume change.

Fault with main board. Contact any service technician. Its auto-volume control circuit [electronic circuit] should be checked. If the firmware has been corrupted, this kind of fault can occur too. If so, a firmware update might be necessary. Try a reset first to this set, and check. To reset it into its factory settings, you have to enter its service mode option.
To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done

Volume decreases drasticly after playing loud 15-20minutes

Shes overheating and thus goes into emergency mode and shuts down the volume to help cool down the built in amp . Dont know if it has a built in fan (likely not) but its overheating which can be a number of reasons why...from a failed heatsink componet, inadequet venting, shorted circuit. Can you take it out and inspect it?

DEMO MODE STAYING ON

You should rewire it, if i remember correctly yellow wire should be connected to constant + (or directly to battery +) so the radio doesn't lose any settings when you turn it off

Kenwood KDC-BT838U -- Low audio on incoming phone calls only.

Patrick -
I have the reverse problem.  Callers can hardly hear me. I saw a setting in the headunit that allows you to specify where the audio plays for incoming calls.  You can choose the Left Front Speaker, the Right Front Speaker or Both.  Check the manual and make sure its set to both.

The Volume turns down by itself

This may be a fault in the main processor, or in the control panel, if the fault is internal to the set.

It is possible that it is an external problem where there is some source of transmissoin that is effecting the remote sensing in the TV set. Compact flourescents have been known to cause this type of problem with some models of TV sets.

If you have compact flourescent lighting in the room, try covering the remote sensor on the TV set with a piece of tape to see if the fault goes away. If this does not subdue the fault, then the set will need service.
