SOURCE: Timex heart rate monitor does not keep correct BPM. I changed the battery, now the heart rate hovers in the 30' and 40's, never getting to the correct BPM

Make sure the back of the watch is spotless and your skin isn't too dry.

SOURCE: heart rate monitor chest band not working with Life Fitness 9500H

This mean that you unit is not equiped with a receiver inside the treadmill. Some models that was an option. Polar is the only brand that works with Lifefitness. You may have a bad upper display board. You can buy a replacement for a small amount of money.

SOURCE: inaccurate/intermittent heart rate info?

Here are the things I have noticed that help:
- enough moisture between the HR monitor and your chest. Apply water right before your workout to make sure it isn't all dry between the time you put on your monitor and when you actually started your workout.
- Make sure the strap is tight enough. Mine gets loose over time and the bouncing of running will give me inaccurate readings until I tighten it up again. You can test if this is the problem by using your hands to press the monitor more tightly against your chest - if that seems to fix the problem that a loose strap could be it.
- Use a "conductive gel" instead of water between the monitor and your chest. Conductive gels are pretty cheap.

Watch turns self off after disconnect from HRM belt. After a few hours comes back on again by itself and have to reset up time date etc.

RTM. Read the manual. You can always do a google for your watch name make model and manual and you should get a .pdf to download and read it. It is a heart rate monitor so that heart should be on there.

How do you turn the heartrate monitor on?

How do I turn the Heart Rate function on and off on my watch? Within the Date and Time screen, if the heart icon is showing, the heart rate function is on. To turn off the heart rate function, simply hold the Reset button until the heart icon goes away.

I changed my wife's Polar F11 HRM watch battery. When I replaced the battery the entire screen lit up, everything. I let it sit for a few minutes and the normal screen came up. Kind of like it was "booting...

Try resetting. From the manual, "if there are no reactions to any buttons, reset the wrist unit by pressing all the buttons simultaneously for two seconds. All other settings but time and date are saved."

Is it possible the watch block is not in correctly and the display is getting squished?

Wont find heartrate

I found this on the internet......

In the battery compartment there’s a gold contact that touches the top of the battery (+ve) which was in a position that would never make contact with the battery. I bent it out slightly, made sure the battery was seated correctly (i.e. flat) and as if by magic my heart rate appeared on the large Garmin display!

Also found this..........

I Have had the same problem couple of times (and forgotten each time how I solved it). I figured it out just now and this is what I did.

1) turn on unit and put on heart monitor (make sure battery is good and wet heart strap)
2) using the mode button navigate the menus to: Settings: General: Accessories: Heart Rate Monitor
3) Once in the Heart Rate Monitor option make sure "Yes" is selected and then use the arrow buttons to highlight "Restart Scan" . Press the enter button to rescan for your heart monitor. (I had to rescan twice)
Go back to the main monitor screen to see if you are recieving heart rate signals.

I am not sure why a manual rescan needs to be done every time but it would be nice if Garmin fixed this issues in a unit software update (my unit has software version 2.80

Hope this helps......

My garmin forerunner 305 HRM suddenly stopped working. I thought it was a bad battery so replaced that, and still nothing. Any other suggestions?
