you cant lock the battery that can be used by anyone but if you get the imei number of the phone if you still have box this will be on their if not you will need to phone your service provider and these should be able to tell you also your service provider should be able to lock your phone the only way this can be done is through the service provider using the phones serial number they do it like this to stop random people blocking anybodys phone also the police can block the phone if you give them imei number they will also block it for you hope this is some help

Make a note of the IMEI# from the back of the phone. If it's a removable battery, you'll find it under the battery on the phone. Contact ATT and give them the IMEI#, they'll be able to let you know the status of the phone.
