With out the choke, the plug is not likely to have visible fuel condensate. If after priming it fires, sputters and dies then likely there's a problem with fuel delivery. If you're using fuel more than a month old, replace with new fuel (fresh from pump) and mix.

Check the following

  • Cracked fuel line(s)
  • Fuel filter
  • Cracked primer bulb (may not be visible so replace)
  • Carburetor mounting has become loose (vacuum leak)
  • Carburetor gasket or adapter is cracked

If still doesn't run, then likely the carb needs a clean/rebuild or replace. You could try Seafoam (or similar) additive. There's also a possibility of a crankcase leak.

Keep in mind a china duplicate replacement carburetor for this unit is ~ $10, delivery included (USA), from Ebay or Amazon.

Make sure when you test for spark, you use a spark tester or at least ground the base of the plug to the engine when you use the pull start. A strong little blue spark should be present. The airgap between the coil and the flywheel may need to be adjusted. The specs are about .010-.016" or the thickness of a regular business card. You would have to loosen the two coil screws on the back of the engine's cylinder if you have checked and determined it actually needs adjusting. Covers will be have to removed to get to this location. Torx head screws hold everything on these together.

Craftsman 25cc weedeater quit running whie using it. Filled it with gas, would not start. Poured gas in the carburater, used starting fuid, spark plug firing, still would not fire. Any ideas?

If it has compression and spark it has to be gas. Try a new plug. If it still does not start consider replacing the carb. About $14 fro m Ebay. Make sure to replace the fuel lines going into tank. They come with a carb kit usually.

My hand held blower wont spark plug and carb.replaced still wont start

If the plug is wet with fuel and it is firing then pull the muffler and for a struck ring. Struck and bad score cylinders will cause one not to start as you need at least 100 psi of compression to ignite the fuel mix.

These are okay then check the ignition of the flywheel to coil relationship as it could be a sheared flywheel key. Note most 2 cycles are now using cast in key as part of the flywheel itself.

How come no spark?

I would change the plug first and check to see if the coil is firing by grounding out the plug and see if there is fire. If not the ignition coil or unit maybe bad. Hope this helps.

Only runs on choke

fit a diaphragm kit in the carby
the pump diaphragm is the first to fail and then the float diaphragm distorts and will not let in enough fuel to keep it running

My weedeater want start change spark plug

I would have a cylinder compression done on the engine before spending any more money. It may be below 100 psi and will not run. Plus if your fuel mixture is over 30 days old I would mix up some fresh fuel mixture.
Or the diaphragm in the carburetor has become stiff and is not pumping any fuel.
Good Day.

It keeps stalling after only a few minures

Suspect Ignition Coil is failing under heat.
To test this, take the unit outdoors and have a fire extinguisher handy. Start and allow unit to run until it shuts down. Then remove spark plug and test for spark by grounding the outer shell of the plug on the engine's metal surface.

BE SAFE!
Keep your face away from the spark plug hole as you pull the rope to test for spark. Expelled fuel or vapors can ignite via the removed spark plug or any subsequent arc.

If no spark when hot, and good spark when cold, replace ignition coil.
Find your EXACT model number on your unit, then go HERE to lookup the part number of the coil. Call your local reputable repair shop and ask if they have it in stock or can order for you.
Hope this helps.

Weedeater will not start. was running, shut it off and then will not crank. I have checked all the obvious(spark plug and wire, has good fire, fuel filter and lines, took apart carb and cleaned good) still...

Pull the spark plug after pushing the primer bulb and cranking a few times...if the plug is "wet" (indicating fuel is present in the cylinder) then the next step will be checking the compression...compression should read above 90psi (preferrably 100-125psi)...if compression is below 90psi, the most likely culprit will be a stuck piston ring.
