SOURCE: Dell 780

This is not a GPO issue. The problem is that all Windows will attempt to set the new resolution and a fail-safe is that if you do not click the Keep Changes button after thirty seconds it switches back to the old settings. This ensures that if you set the resolution to a range the monitor or display adapter can't handle that you don't get 'stuck' with a blank screen.
Check that the display adapter in the Dell 780 can handle a resolution of 1280x1024 and that the monitor can also handle this resolution.

What would be my best option to restore missing files and undo what she has done, to prevent going into sleep mode and not coming out?

It sounds like you have a virus.
Go to Microsoft website and download and run security suite.
Then to fix sleep mode check your shutdown and sleep settings (sounds like they were altered)
Run Malwarebytes its a free program you can download from google.
After doing this should be better but keep Malwarebytes and run monthly.

Dell ST22200L monitor goes into sleep time mode

Its in your power settings. Access it same as when you set the screensaver, is one way. Other times go straight to power settings.

Compaq q1859 monitor

Hmmm, sleep/suspend mode is only supposed to happen when it doesn't sense any movement from the mouse, it also shouldn't suspend if you are in full-screen either. So if you are playing a game that shouldn't happen at all... as a test you should put the "turn off the display" to "never" and see if it still happens.
I have this happen when watching Netflix, if I don't move the mouse my TV will go into suspend mode, even though I am in full screen... I think my issue however is related to the fact that I am using HDMI to connect to my TV from my computer... I have not solved this issue yet!

My Dell monitor goes to sleep right after windows xp starts to load and it won't come on after that. my computer is still running but the monitor is a sleep. I have hit f8 and f12 with nothing happening....

Go into safe mode
Under settings, control panel, power options set "turn off monitor to never
reboot

I think this is not a sleep problem but the incorrect monitor settings were set. This will cause the screen to go black when the OS comes up. Boot in safe mode and change the display settings
to 640x480
OR
in safe mode, delete your monitor. When you reboot it will load a default monitor and you should be OK

Dell dimension 5150 sleep mode

Perhaps, not the best solution. However, it should get you going. Hold the power button for 15 or more seconds. The machine should then power down. You should then be be able to reboot. If that does not work, remove the battery and the power cable. Reinsert and then boot the machine. Make sure that you let it scan the disks to fix any disk errors.

Monitor goes into sleep mode as I'm working on it. How do I shut off/

How do you shut off sleep mode? I take it you're using Vista, as XP has "standby:" mode rather than sleep. You first right-click the desktop, then click "personalize." from there, click on "screen saver," and then "change power settings." from there, look on the left hand side of the window and choose the option you want to change. Probably, you'll want to "choose when to turn off the display." Hope this helps,

My speakers work but my headphone jack won't

The Solutions that will mostly work :

1) Go to sleep mode - wake up ! - tada !! the headphone jack will work again .. I know it sounds crazy.. i had the same problem.. (ie speakers onboard worked while headphones jack didnt work) usually restarting solves any problem, but this time even a restart did not worked while putting the laptop on standby(sleep) mode and waking it up worked !!

2) If the above does not work, uninstall the sound drivers from device manager - restart the computer - then let windows detect appropriate drivers by itself. Sometimes the Sigmatel drivers(which are provided by manufacturer) do not work well compared to windows vista's HD sound drivers. May solve the issue... Do not worry doing this, in the worst scenario you can always download and reinstall the dell drivers from dell support page.

Please update on [email protected] if the problem gets solved..
