My maytag washer is not spinning out. The swtich was hot wired by previous owner, i know the risks, not the problem at hand. The pump works good. the timer seems to work at proper time. the motor and belt work fine although i think belt could be tighter, but it doesnt seem to be slipping. Evidently does not have a coupler. I have repaced coupler on other machines but this one dont seem to have one. It does have a white disk that the belt turns. Maybe some kind of bearing in the center of it. How do i eliminate this posibility and where do i go from here? My name is Wayne Jones i live in Cameron oklahoma.

Sounds like a sticky brake assy. This type of brake is very tricky and should be checked be a service technician

It's possible to do it yourself but not recommended because of the 200 lb. pressure spring. Hope the diagram will help.

The motor is faulty. Either the relay contacts are stuck or there is a shorted winding. Best to replace the motor.

SOURCE: Washer will not agitate but will spin

It sounds like the plastic inside the agitator cog are worn. The smell is the plastic cog turning but the agitator not turning.

Take off the top of the agitator. If any screw are available remove them. If not grab the agitator from the bottom and yank off. Unscrew the agitator drive cog and inspect underside of agitator. Go to an appliance repair shop and reorder a new one. Between $15-30.

SOURCE: Maytag LAT9706AAM Washer - Spin Cycle problems

If the timer is advancing but won't spin out, it is possible that the spin contacts inside the timer are faulty. A technician will normally isolate and confirm this diagnosis witth a special power cord hookup to the motor. From the way you describe your complaint, I feel that a timer would correct your problem.

Hope this advice is helpful!

SOURCE: Maytag MAV6000 Top Load Washing Machine

Tip the machine back remove the belt try to turn the drive pulley manually . sorry the larger pulley in the centre. if you can turn it counter clockwise and feel the inner drum moving then the thrust bearing is ok. if not you may need to replace it.Also a bad lid switch can cause this problem.

If it was the bearing it should be leaking water out the bottom! It is more than likely the water pump. The seal in the pump drops down and then makes noise. The pump should be in rear. tilt machine back remove belt then try turning the pump by hand if tight replace.

Motor smell hot drum will not spin or pump out water Maytag atlantis

Im not an expert, but.Ok, but it wash? The only problem is at spin? if not wash at all:
Disconnect from the outlet, remove the belt, and by hand turn the pump and drum. Its suppose to move with low resistance in both directions, will not spin freely, but turn easy by hand. Do the same with motor. IF the drum and pump moves in both directions, I suspect about the motor.
If the only problem is at spin:
Do the same, but place special attention at the drum when you turn in reverse. Look if you see the brake Disk turn.

My Maytag Neptune TL ( purchased in 2005) is grinding during the wash cycle only. Spin cycle is quiet. Once the entire wash/rinse spin completed I opened the washer to retrieve the load and found a piece...

Jose,

I'm an owner of three FAV6800A machines and I'll respond to help because you want to roll up your sleeves and try to save your $1K machine.

1st No direct links Google this Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW

In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with.

Post in that forum your machine Model which I assume is an FAV6800A (LED Console) or FAV9800A (LCD Console)

Include the first two digits of you machines model number. That is the series of your machine.

Give a description of the issue as you did here. I hope the grinding is during wash/agitate if so it may be something as simple as tumbler removal to clear out debris. If the grinding is in Spin Cycle it could be a bit more work like Outer Tub bearing failure.

The Forum in my opinion is geared more toward the DIY owner as I am and as you sound. The forum is free like this and my support is free..........Good Luck D*ick

LD error code appears on maytag nepune washer

Roz,
You have some kinda something stuck in your drain pump. The computer that controls your washer has detected that it's taking too long to pump out and therefore refuses to spin.

Now this will take alot of work, but it'll save you a couple hundred, OK? First you have to get as much water out of the washer as possible. Fortunately on the Maytags you can do this fairly easily. Use a garden hose and connect it to the end of the drain hose (from the washer)... use duct tape to secure it. Then run the garden hose outside and make sure it's downhill. Now take the corrugated drain from your washer and lower it below the base of the washer. This will drain it completely.

After the water has drained, pull the washer away from the wall... enough for working space. AND DON'T FORGET TO UNPLUG IT! Remove the rear panel (4 screws) and you'll see a big pulley in front of you.To the lower left, you'll see the drain pump. It's mounted to the base of the cabinet. Use a 5/16" to remove the hose clamps then remove the hoses. Then remove the wires that feed the pump. When that is done, you should have the pump in your hand.

Now that you have the pump in hand you'll see the pump housing (it's white). There are three screws holding the pump housing to the motor. Remove them and separate the 2 parts. Now you'll see the cause of the problem. Some trash got pulled into it. Probably a rug bottom or a dog bed....

Remove the stuff and rebuild the unit in reverse order and you're good to go.

Don't forget to rate my solution!

My maytag washer mav9501eww does not spin, but it drains and it does agitate

Not sure if this will help, but I had the exact same problem on a Maytag top loader. With the machine powered off, spin the wash drum clockwise with your hands. It should be very loose initially and then will tighten up. Unfortunately I don't know the exact mechanism that makes this work, but it did work for mine.

I hope this helps...good luck!

Wont spin or drain

The drain pump is jammed or clogged up. Remove the filter cover and check for bobby pins, coins or bra wires. If clean, remove drum to pump hose from the pump and check for any foreign matter. Try to turn the pump impeller by hand. It should turn freely. If pump is not free, replace it.
