SOURCE: 42" Sanyo HD Plasma TV (Model DP42746)

Scott,
Not at all crazy! The Samsung/Akai lines seem to have numerous problems with their Y and Z sustain boards and upper/lower Y driver boards (aka buffers). That and power supplies are generally the largest percentage of the problems in those units. That said, I'm a bit confused looking at the p/n you referenced. I don't see that as being a Samsung number belonging to a Y-sus board. Usually they start with BPxx-xxxxxx..
Lastly, while you might have every ability to replace the Y-sus board if the buffers are bad and you don't replace them you could simply burn up the sustain board when you power it up... Installing the buffers is a bit more complex than the sustain board so be really careful there...\
Good Luck
Bill

You can try tigerdirect.com. they're known for selling really good products. Just make sure you ask them about their exchange/refund policy though.

SOURCE: Samsung HD 42inch TV Model No. PS42S5H Y Board

Your board numbers should start with LJ92. They will cross to both Samsung and LG. Oh, your model number goes nowhere, double check it.

Samsung plasma model s43ax-yb08. have stand by light but screen does not light up. VS & SVT_Vs Voltage not going to what is listed on tv. Does the powerboard, mainboard or Y board need replacement

Plasma TV's are very difficult to repair. You will need a power supply....and two buffer boards. The buffer boards are on the left and right. If you install the power supply only.......the buffer boards will take it down. And the Y board is not out of the question. The headache and expense is not worth the repair. I just saved your stress. By all means recycle this and buy new. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV.

Why does my samsung plasma tv have vertical lines on the screen

In most of the case is the data buffer located on the lower bottom of the Plasma panel is damaged duo to defective buffer IC, or it was damaged by leaky liquid dripped to it. Some older panels you may change the buffer board, but newer panel, the buffer board is directly soldered to the panel by a few flat flex cable, you can not change it.

How to fix Black Horizontal Line on Samsung Plasma TV (PN60F8500)

It is possible that the buffer board will fix your problem, but try removing, cleaning and reseating the flex cables between the buffers and the panel first. All it takes is a little bit of dirt or oxidation to open a connection and cause a line-out condition. Use a lint free cloth and a little bit of alcohol to clean them. Make sure to fully insert the cables and center them perfectly in the connectors or you will have even more lines. If the original line is still there after cleaning, then try replacing the board. Buy a board from a reputable dealer that will guarantee no problems with the board. If you still have the line even after changing the board, then the plasma panel has failed and the only fix is to replace the panel.
Always let the tv set for an hour unplugged before attempting any repair work. There are dangerously high voltages in plasma tvs that can cause severe shocks or even *****.

Hi I have a samsung plasma PN50C550G1F I havve right now 2 vertical lines that seem to change color with the background picture. Tv powers up fine sound work perfect.

Vertical lines on a plasma TV are caused by either a failing x-buffer board or a loose connection at the flex cable between the panel and the buffer board. Sometimes just removing the flex cable, cleaning it, snd reinstalling it will fix it.

Got sound but picture is black

Tries unplug, replug the cable or satalite boxes back like about an hour later, for those pay boxes to reboot and upgraded it software,tv now might work again, but if still have the same problems. The tv X or Y buffers boards are dead or both. These 2 long buffers boards are to the right and to the left of the tv to provide the tv Plasma screen panel to have a backlight to produce a picture on the tv Plasma screen panel.Try website like Ebay.com to buy those 2 long refurbishes X or Y or both long buffers boards for the replacement.

Anyone know why the Samsung PN50B550 50in Plasma would have a vertical strip about 2 inches long on the far left side that keeps going to static/out of tune. The rest of the picture is fine. I've checked...

I had this issue..Go to Menu and go to the burn in troubleshooting and run the scrolling feature..Scrolls whites and darks..Run for an hour..I had it on both sides..From watching 4 X 3 pic, image retention..Should clean up fine

We have samsung 50 inch plasma tv, we have only half a screen

I have a Phillips 50 inch Plasma. About two months out of warranty the top half of the screen would go black. Sometimes when we tapped on the back behind the upper right hand corner the picture would return. I did some research online and found that there is a Main Y sustain board (much like a mother board in a computer) and connected to that board is a upper Y Buffer board and a Lower Y buffer board. According to my research these boards seem to be the source of the problem. I am assuming that the upper buffer controls the top half of my screen and the lower controls the bottom. I removed the back of my TV (about 50 small screws) and searched for these parts by part number. Surprisingly all of the parts in my Phillips are made by Samsung. I found the parts on ebay at shopjimmy.com. I decided to try replacing the upper Y buffer first. I ordered it from shopjimmy for about 100.00. When I received the part I started to remove my upper Y buffer and realized that the new part was slightly different. The part number was the same but the REV. number was slightly different. The new part was missing a small white connector that connects the upper buffer to the lower buffer. I sent it back for an exchange for the right part with no problem. Ok so here is the interesting piece of this little adventure. When I started to remove my upper Y buffer I removed the screws and started to pull on it to loosen it. When I noticed that I had the wrong part I pushed it back into place and put the screws back . My TV has worked perfectly since I did that, with my original part. It has only been about two months, but if you are in the same situation it might be worth a try.
