I have a Toshiba 50h72 and a 50h81 and the remote's on both tv's will not work, what are the chance's that they both go out at almost the same time. I just think it is a faulty product, and Toshiba need's to recall their faulty product. We paid allot of money for these sets.
Sounds like you could be right- possible fix----try removing battries and re-placing with brand new ones also pressing the on/off button while holding down the 5 button can reset the remote - I have never tried this myself but I was told by the manufactors that this is the way to do this - if you can belive that- worth a go - nothing to loose everything to gain.B/O/L------P.

Toshiba brand remote control have no set-up code/s to Vizio TVs. Anyway, just try a code search method. If there is any code for Vizio. by chance; you'll win.
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the site linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. See it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" view. The manual power button ought to still turn the set on and off even if the remote is bad or not working.
I suspect you have two problems but there is a tiny chance only one as the front buttons and the remote both go to the same place in the set but here the front buttons have priority.
1. Make sure there are working batteries in the Toshiba remote control.
2. Turn on your television set, DVD player or other device that you want to control with the Toshiba remote.
3. Find the "Recall" or "Setup" button on the Toshiba remote control. After you find it, press and hold down that button until the lights on the remote control turn on and remain lit.
4. Point the Toshiba remote at the device you turned on in Step 2 and press the button on the remote for that device.
5. Begin pressing the "Power" button on the Toshiba remote. Continue doing this until you have turned the device off using the Toshiba remote. Once it shuts off, press "Enter" on the Toshiba remote. The remote will then be programmed.
