You can always reformat it. If you plug the mp3 player into your computer and right click on the icon in the MY COMPUTER window, and click on FORMAT. It should come to a new window and click on start format. Your fixer, Wild2DMaxx

If the issue is occurring for all the supported formats of audio files, then I suggest that you Reset the Walkman by pressing the RESET button located at the bottom. You can use a pin or any sharp pointed object to press the reset button. This should resolve the issue.
You may also format the Walkman using the FORMAT option and transfer the songs to it.
If the issue is not resolved, you may try connecting the Walkman to a different Computer to check whether you can transfer the songs successfully.
If the issue is unresolved even after performing the above steps.
Install Windows Media Player if the program is not on the computer.

Put music into your Windows Music Player library. Click "File" in the top left of the program. Highlight and select "Add to Library." A window will appear.
Select the "Add" button.
Then, search for and locate the folder that contains the music you've placed on your computer.
Choose this folder and then click "OK." Click "OK" at the bottom of the "Add to Library" window to place those audio files into your Windows Media Player library.
Click "Sync" at the top of the program.
Plug the MP3 player into the computer.
Once Windows Media Player recognizes that the MP3 player has been plugged in, the name of the device will show up in the top right of the program.
Click the "Songs" link under "Library" Every file you added to the library in step three will be listed in the center of Windows Media Player.
Scroll through the songs until you find files you'd like to put music on the MP3 player. Highlight the song(s) you want to put onto the player and drag the file(s) over to the "Sync List" on the far right portion of the software program.
Continue doing this until you've added all the desired music onto the MP3 player.
Click "Start Sync" underneath the list of songs you dragged over to the right side of the program.
The music will be added to the MP3 player.
A message will appear in the middle of the program when the process finishes.
You can then disconnect your MP3 player.
hope this helps
