I have a Samsung LN40E550 and it’s now making a high pitch humming sound on the right side and it’s shutting itself off then turning back on. It’ll only stay on for a minute, maybe two, then repeat this cycle. Is it time to get a new TV?

Hi, the high pitched sound is coming from the coils or transformers on the power supply.
you can isolate the noise by removing the back and with the set on press gently with a plastic handle/item on each coil till you stop the noise. , you will probably have to replace the coil or the whole power supply, but sometimes you can tilt it over or secure it with silicone and it will stop rimging.
