I had the same problem but with a different TEAC docking product.
My TEAC would not recognize my ipod therefore I was unable to control my ipod via the docking station remote control.
Plug your ipod into the docking station and power down (reboot) your ipod. Once the ipod powers down (in the dock) restart the ipod (yes, while in the dock).

the memory button on the remote control, wait for the written "SYNC ON" on display and then
press the track forward (one on the right with the double arrow).
Now normally set the clock.

My iPod touch USED to work fine on this device. Until I did an update. It now won't charge or play. I am sure it's something apple does during updates. No way around it.
