Basically they needed to supply an additional door mount for the left hand side of the door as well as the right hand side. Problem now sorted. Poor instructions in the manual didn't help here!

Make sure you drain the machine first by setting a spin cycle manually and see if it releases the door after a few minutes. If that fails then switch off the machine and leave for 5 mins, door should release but you could end up with water on the floor. After this clean your filter and check you water pump, then try a short cycle without clothes.

Some front load washers have a pull tab on the door switch. To access it you either have to remove the top panel and reach down to the door switch from there or some have a bottom access panel across the bottom front below the door to remove and you need to reach up to the door switch. Please remove power plug first. Tab is usually a small round tab you will either pull up on or down on depending where the tab is located.

Try unpluging for a few minutes . wake the washer up by turning knob then at the same time press and hold start cancel error will display . take off top and you will find a tech sheet on left side and that should help. you can manually unlock the door after taking top off and reach down to door lock you will feel a plastic switch to pull

E42 error code electrolux washing machine
Just followed the advice above by removing the 2 screws holding the top on and manually released the front load door. Now to figure out what part I need to replace the door lock mechanism and figure out how to do that.

My electrolux ewf 1481 front loader wont spin
Open the flap, bottom right of the front panel and check the filter is clear. Most machines will not spin until they have expelled all the water. You may want to check the hose is not block and any connections to the sink if it's not on a standpipe.
Most new machines have quite sensitive out of balance detection so if it an odd load try again but add a few extra items to allow the machine to distribute the load evenly prior to spin. Hope this helps
