How do I fix crackling in line - Lands Phones

if only happens on certain calls it could either be the handset itself, a week point on all corded phones is the cable between the handset and the body of the phone. whilst talking to someone on a call wiggle the cord where it enters the handset, does it crackle if not do the same where the cord enters the phone body, if no crackle likely not phone.

next select a line if you have more than 1 line note which 1 and dial 17070. this will BT autotest the line. if more than 1 line on system do same for all lines. check with your system admin if there are quick codes to select individual lines, eg dial 9 for any line or 81 for line 1 82 for line 2 etc .

if you get crackle still on 1 of the lines get your maintainer to check the lione at the cable head where lines enter building

how about the speaker did you tried to check weather the cone get worn out so it has crackling sounds.

crackling on the line is water / moisture in your telephone line that causes a loose connection some were .you need to have your phone company come out and find the fault and fix it. they can not charge you for this service as it is due to there lines being worn by time.

Sounds like you hve "noise" on the phone line you are using. Try plugging a normal phone into the line socket you are using for faxing, then pick up the reciever to make a call. If you hear crackling then the line is noisy and you need your phone service provider to repair the line. If you dont hear crackling try using another line lead.

Crackling and buzz can come from a few different sources. I need a few more details. Is it on all phones? Is it on all lines of all phones? Does your caller hear the crackling too?

If it's in just one phone then switch out the handset & cord to see if the problem stays with the phone or the handset. You may just need a new hand set cord.

If it's in more than one phone then the problem will need some more testing.

Absolutely you can fix this problem.
What you do is goto your local radio shack and they will have the correct connectors and wire that you need.
If you want you can even bring one with you to radio shack and show them what you want to do.
The fix should only take maybe 10 minutes tops they have alot of do it yourself items.
