SOURCE: DeLonghi EC701 Pump out

I had the same issue. Scale build up in the port that routes water to the boiler outlet for the coffee filter basket. Frother tube was fine.

I used CLR to open it back up. Used 1 part to 4 of water and ran a whole reserviour through the unit. At first, it only dripped and then finally it blew open when the CLR dissolved the scale.

Make sure to run lots of clean water through the unit after so that you don't end up drinking acid with your next cup. I ran about a gallon through to rinse it out.

SOURCE: The steamer on our Espresso machine is not working

Try using a paperclip or needle to clear out the holes on the end of the steam wand. That will usually work if when you turn on the wand it is hot to the touch and you can still get hot water from the coffee spout.

Why is it leaking during operation?

Could need de-scaling. Scale builds up after time and reduces flow rates, increasing pressure leading to leaks. Give it a go with any generic de-scaling powder or liquid following the instructions. My coffee machine (different model) did similar and now works like new again.

Machine is leaking water during operation...does it need new O-ring???

O rings do deteriorate over time but see my other answer as it is possible it just needs de-scaling.

Hi, We have just bought a DeLonghi Caffe Treviso. We are not able to get any coffee/liquid to drip out of the filter holder. The problem seems to occur when we are trying to preheat the machine, for...

Sounds like you need to prime the water pump. Remove the filter holder, open the steam knob and then press the coffee delivery switch. Wait for water to flow consistently from the steamer and then close the steam knob. Water should then be forced to flow through the goup head (coffee head). If you cannot get water to flow from steamer then the pump may have already been damaged or it may have been faulty from the start. If water will flow through steamer but not for the coffee, then the group head is blocked. Good luck hope this helps and remember that all machines should be primed like this before use.

Leaking

You need to contact Delonghi and order a part. This is the steam/water outlet assembly. This part includes an electronic solenoid which controls the water and steam output. I have had this problem 3 times. You may find the steam/ water is very loose when you try to wobble it sideways. This is the indication as to what is the problem, (as mentioned above).

Steamer

Both tubes must be in the water. If you haven't used the machine for awhile, fill the water canister, turn the espresso maker on and also turn on the delivery switch (the top switch on the EC140). You'll hear the pump and in a second or two water will begin to exit the boiler nozzle. Immediately turn the delivery switch off. Wait for the "OK" light to come on. Press the "Steam" switch (the middle switch on the EC140, place an empty cup under the frother and turn the steam control knob on top in the counterclockwise direction. Steam will come from the frother. Be very careful to avoid contact with this steam.
