SOURCE: Macbook Pro DVI---> HDMI + Digital Optical Out = Problem w/ Sound

On the Sony The HDMI takes "priority" over all others, that's why you loose audio. If you run your DVI/HDMI to the TV and optical to the soundbar that would fix your issue. If your TV does not have Multiple HDMI inputs, you can get a DVI/Component adapter for your MBP then run it to the TV, or, If you have to have HDMI just to have HDMI, you can get a 2:1 HDMI switch and still have optical to your soundbar. Make sense? If youneed more help, just post a comment and I'll help some more.

SOURCE: I am having problems connecting

Hi,
Do you mean by "I have one bar for signal to my router" the length of the cable from the router to LG ST 600. Then you can use 3 to 4 metre cable to connect from router to ST600. About HDMI cable vertion 1.4a HDMI is necessary if you need to watch 3D content. If not you can use vertion 1.3a HDMI cable.

SOURCE: LG sound bar connected to Pioneer TV by optical cable not working

1. if you have something else that you can test the optical wire on. do that first. dvd player etc... if the test item works, it's the sound bar (or a setting in the sound bar.)

2. check the audio settings on your t.v. make sure it's set to output to optical.

3. replace the wire.

if none of these solve the problem, the t.v.'s optical output may be bad.

SOURCE: how to connect my tv to optical outlet

What audio-outputs does your TV have? SPDIF? 3.5 millimeter stereo-jack? White/Red RCA "post-and-collar" sockets?

What inputs does the sound bar have? (Same choices as above.)

Note that you might need a 3.5mm to stereo-RCA cable.

My Samsung tv model number UA40C5000QF does not have a hmdi arc port and we have bought a Samsung sound bar but it cannot be connected as it does not have that port

Your sound bar can be connected to the UA40C500QF. Get an appropriate audio cable based on the sound bar. You'll either need a optical digital audio cable or an analog audio cable with a 3.5 mm plug on at least one side. (If your sound bar has an AUX input, then a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm M/M audio cable is appropriate. Otherwise, you may need an RCA (M/M) to 3.5 mm audio cable or some sort of RCA to 3.5 mm adapter (F on one side, M on the other).) Connect this cable to the audio out on the TV (headphone or digital audio) and the appropriate audio in on the sound bar.

Set the sound bar source to the chosen input (Aux or Digital In (D.In on some systems). Next, set the TV to use External speakers. This is in the Audio sub-menu. The volume will now be controlled by the sound bar volume control.

You can still use the HDMI cable (HDMI out to any HDMI in on the TV) if you want to use the TV screen when changing the settings on the sound bar. Just change the TV source to that HDMI port with the Source button on the TV remote or on the TV (the left-most button on the front panel). Then change your source back to the video signal for the TV to view items connected to the other HDMI ports. If your sound bar has an HDMI input, you would similarly use set the TV to the sound input to watch that source.

I hope this helps. See the manual for the UA40C500Q for the details on setting the speakers to External speakers. The manual is available on the support page: https://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/UA40C5000QFXXY/ . Connected jbl bar 5.1 to hisense 65 p7 tv using hdmi arc outlet on tv and sound bar unfortunately no sound

  1. When you connect an external device to TV (without ARC) and Sound Bar, connect the HDMI cable (sold separately) from the external device to the TV. Then, connect the external device to the Sound bar using an optical cord (sold separately).
  2. If you want to connect to just the TV, then the HDMI connection is unnecessary.
  3. I myself find it just as good in not using the HDMI and just using the optical cord.

How do I connect sound bar to a TV with no optical cable port ?

Hello... most sound bars have more than one input, such as RCA (red and white), digital (orange) and HDMI (which requires an ARC HDMI input/output on the TV. Look at the back of your TV and see what's available. You will get the best audio from the HDMI or the digital. I hope this helps!

Have lg 55ls5700 tv trying to connect samsung hw-f450

I suspect that the TV you have does not support the ARC function that the sound bar has. What you may have to do is use the Optical In from the sound bar to the TV and you should be good to go. You may have to change the TV's settings to use the Optical In though. So you should end up with the BluRay Player connected to the TV via an HDMI cable, the sound bar connected to the TV via the Optical In using a fiber optic cable. Hope this helps.

You need to use a HDMI 1.4 Cable and it needs to be connected to to an HDMI socket with an ARC (audio return channel). Alternatively you can connect using an optical cable (TOSLINK).
