Please be sure to put the extra handsets in the MAIN base station to register. They will not register in the small remote charger stations.

Let me know if that fixes the problem!

SOURCE: I have a Panasonic KX-TG6051CM

I had the same problem, and it seems that the battery charging circuit in the handset had locked up, constantly charging the battery until it overheated. I was able to reset the circuit in my handset by completely draining the battery. Here is the procedure:

1. Remove the handset from the charging cradle, and leave it on for a few days until the battery runs out, and the handset finally turns off. At his point, the battery will be very low, BUT NOT COMPLETELY DRAINED.

2. Next, you must manually drain the charge remaining in the battery by shorting out the two contacts on it. Shorting won't damage the battery, since it is holding very little charge at this point. An easy way to physically do this is to remove the battery, and place a piece of thin wire across the the two contacts of the HANDSET. I am referring to the contacts inside the handset that connect to the battery, NOT the contacts on the bottom outside that connect the handset to the charging cradle. Next, put the battery back in, sandwiching the wire between the battery's contacts and those inside the handset. This will hold the wire in place. DO NOT PUT THE HANDSET BACK INTO THE CHARGER, WITH THE BATTERY SHORTED OUT.

3. Wait about 30 minutes for the battery to completely die. Remove the jumper wire, and but the handset back into the charger.

4. If the battery was fully discharged , you will get a message on the handset telling you that you should let it will charge for 7 hours. If you do not get this message, then either the battery was not fully discharged, or your problem is different from mine. Try the procedure again in Step 3 for another 30 minutes to discharge the battery some more.

5. If you get the "Wait for 7 hours to charge" message on the handset, then leave it in the charging cradle for the 7 hours requested. After that, it should work fine.

Let me know how you make out.

SOURCE: handsets wont work at all

it may be that the handset is registred to another base unit-
we had one base and one handset replaced by uniden, but the second (old) handset was still registred to the old base, therefore everytime we tried to deregister the handset it was looking for the old (replaced) base and of course could not connect and therefore wouldnt deregister. still havent figured out what to do yet

My phones are going blank on screen after I dial out or while dialing.

While the screen goes blank, does it drop the call? Are the handsets fully charged, or are they on the charging dock whenever they are not in use?

The batteries may need to be replaced. Bad batteries can in some cases cause the phone features to not fully work. They are located in the back, bottom of the handset.

Hi, Bruce Kelly I have a Uniden DECT1480-3 That the screens on all hand set's say's SEARCHING. I can not get a dial tone so I am unable to make a call or recieve a call. Their is no dial tone and all of...

All of the handsets appear to have lost their
registration to the base and will need to
be first de-registered then re-registered.
It may be necessary to do this in three stages.
First be sure that all of the handset batteries
are fully charged.
1.
Clear one of the handsets of its registration:
hold down both the [END] and [#] keys
at the same time until the display shows the
SYSTEM RESET menu.
Since the handset is not recognized by its
base, select "Base Not Available".
Confirm the choice by selecting "Yes".
This handset will now display
"Handset Not Registered"
--
2.
With "...Not Registered" displayed, place
the handset into the base unit cradle.
The handset should now dieplay
"Handset Registering"
After ~30 seconds the display should show
"Registration Complete" and will have a
handset unit number.
If the unit shows "Handset 1" (doubtful)
then just repeat steps 1 & 2 above for each
additional handset in turn. This can also be
the route if you do not care what the numbers
are and do not exceed the maximum count
for your system ( some are 4, 5, or even 12 ).
If the handset is a number other than 1 you
may want to clear the base & re-register
all of the handsets:
3.
Using the now-registered and working handset
(number x), press both the [END] and [#] keys at the same time until the display shows the
SYSTEM RESET menu.
This time, choose "Deregister HS" and the
System Reset Menu will prompt you to
select from the list of registered handsets
which one you want to deregister: choose
one that is NOT the one you have working.
Cycle around deleting them all until only the
one that is working is left: select that one and
the system will be ready to start re-registering
all handsets again from Handset #1.
Start at process (1) above, then (2).
Good Luck!!

Deregister procedure for at&t el52400 handsets

1. To de-register the orphaned handsets from their old base:
When the orphaned handset says "Connecting..."
enter *331734 [menu]
and it will soon beep and display "Not registered"

2. To register the new handset to your base:
press the "Handset Locator" button on the base and hold
it until the "in use" light comes on ( ~ 4 seconds ),
then release the button and set the new handset into
the base phone cradle. After ~ 30 seconds it will beep
and display "Handset #" (next in sequence).

3: Note: the base handles a maximum of 12 handsets.

If your system was fully populated ( ie, a handset is
already # 12 ) you will have to clear all the handsets
from the base and re-register them all in sequence.
( it is the only way to 'rescue' the places occupied
by the lost handsets ).

To clear the base of all registrations:

1. Press and hold the the "Handset Locator" button
until the "in use" light lights and then starts to blink
( ~ 10 seconds ), release the button --
then press it again briefly while the "in use" light
is still blinking.

2. The base will beep and all handsets that were registered
will display "Not Registered"

3. Follow the instructions above for each handset
in turn to re-register them:
press "Handset Locator" ~ 4sec ( in-use light on ),
set handset into the base cradle, etc.

The manual is available from: www.manualslib.com
but does not fully describe these procedures.

Good luck !

Handset has message Out of Range even though it is fully charged on on the handset.

The handsets are reading out of range because they have lost connection with the base. This happens mostly during peak power demands or power outages, but can also happen when the phone is unplugged for any amount of time. This can also cause, at times, the answering machine to stop picking up calls. To remedy this issue, reset the phone system. Please follow the instructions below:
To reset the phone:
1. Disconnect the power adapter, phone line, and remove all batteries from the base and all handsets. Leave it disconnected for 30 seconds to reset the base.
2. Place the batteries in the handsets first and then plug in the power adapter and phone line. Do not place the batteries back in the base yet.
3. Put the handset in the charge cradle.
4. It may take up to 1 minute for the "Out of Range" to clear from the display.
5. Once the "Out of Range" is cleared from the handset place the back up batteries back into the base.

Panasonic KX-TG6051M 5.8 GHz -Caller ID view problem

I have a panasonic KX-TG6051CM 5.8 phone with 3 handsets. After less than a year 2 of the 3 handsets developed the same problem, almost in the same time ( a couples of hours apart). The battery indicator shows low battery and is charging continuously even though the battery is fully charged ( when i swap the battery with my 3rd handset, the battery indicator shows fully charged and works fine ). The handsets were never dropped, never used in a moisture ladden environment ( like bathroom ) and when not in use they were kept in the charger. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Expandable handsets lose activation:

USer manual requires,
full charge 16 hours for expandable handsets, then place in cradle ~20 seconds until 'ready' is displayed on the screen.
If power is lost the handset may have to be re-registered.

if the units are not fully charged when you register them the registration may be lost, can only suggest reversing the order, by fully charging the device then registering to see if the registration holds
