SOURCE: My woods upright freezer keeps

check your door seal, by closing the door on a strip of newspaper all round the seal. this fault is usually air getting inside the freezer, it rises to the top making thick ice or snow.

I would look at the defrost control [sometimes they are defrost clocks]Maybe that the freezer is not defrosting.

SOURCE: Kenmoore upright freezer cold but not freezing

Hi!

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check that there is air flow in the upper vent baffle in the fridge section which is located behind the crispers. If there is no air flow at the vent baffle in the upper fridge section then this is the cause of the issue you’re facing with. The evaporator fan pushes the air through ducting into the refrigerator from the freezer and if there is any material obstructing it then clear it.

If still the problem persists then you need to check the following things:

The defrost circuit contains defrost timer, defrost heater(s) and defrost thermostat. Defrost timer failure will not put power to the circuit. Defrost heater failure will fail to defrost when the timer applies power. Defrost thermostat must be closed for defrost to take place. First locate the timer, rotate the clutch head screw clockwise slowly until one distinct click is heard. Now the timer will be set in defrost mode and defrost should complete within 30 minutes or less after which the refrigeration should start cooling again. If defrost takes place and it does not go back to cooling automatically turn the screw once again until you hear the second click, unit will start. Replace the timer. If defrost does not take place in the time frame above and the unit restarts in cooling test the defrost heaters. From the heater(s) follow the wires from each end to where they plug into the circuit. Unplug them and test through the heaters with an ohm meter. You should get a reading if they are good, if no reading then you need to replace the heater(s). If you get a reading on the heater(s) then you need to replace the defrost thermostat.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Where can I buy a seal for my Woods upright freezer Model WV20-ZF1/E

Woods are no longer in business and all parts are obsolete.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Woods+upright+freezer+WV20-ZF1%2FE+door+gasket

So, you can either buy a door gasket by the size of the one you have, or you can make one by buying a length or door gasket material and cutting 90' notches in the 4 corners and filling / gluing the corners with white silicone.

Or if the gasket is just split, you can clean thoroughly and repair with silicone. Fill the void, close the door, and clean up excess.

https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/3d1c1uazs3-003083/wc-wood-v20wb-upright-freezer-parts

And then after typing all the above, I searched for the Part Number and there is one here!

Woods Freezer. Where is the off position on it please?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks category.

Freezers don't have controls INSIDE the freezer, as it is too cold for efficient operation. Chest freezers have them on the outside behind the grille where the compressor is. Upright freezers usually has electronic controls on the door. You give o clue as to what type you have or what model you have. You can easily turn it off by removing the wall plug!

Or you can find the manual. 'Off' on a thermostat is normally fully clockwise.

My Woods upright freezer MU07W running great for 9 years. Will it continue to run if I decide to place it outside on the balcony where temperature goes down to 20 below F or to max of 90 F plus?

Not the best idea. We had one in our garage where it got cold but not that awful cold. Not a good idea unless you want to take a chance. If the unit shuts down for a long time because of the cold the system could freeze or seize up.

i could be wrong, but, look along the bottom of the door to see if the seal is tight to the frame......if there is an air gap it is causing the floor to freeze the cold air....
