Testimonial: "nothing mentioned of location of HDD in manual"
not the users manual, its called a sevice manual. talk to them get the manual.
you'd need that to say if you found the HDD
and it is bad and need to replace it.
all these steps to do that are unique to this printer.
why not ask on their forum,? the makers.
or there support community as the call it now.

what you will have to do is remove the back cover.
then you will need to remove the thin metal cover laying flat cover on the back half of the copier just under the doc feeder. should be 3 screws.
then there is a metal box that holds the main controller on the right. if you open that you will see the IDE cable which will run up and out of that box and will run up under a thin metal plate that should be held in by 2 screws. if you remove those screws you should be able to see the hd .
